Death by Peanuts The manager of the company was a profit-minded person. His decision to ship contaminated products was motivated by his desire to maintain the company’s profit margin and market share. In addition, the managers assumed the roles of standard monitory organizations such as FDA.2. Workers at the plant were afraid about the company’s future and their terms of employment. They feared that the company might close down leading to the termination of their employment. 3. The employees were not justified for keeping their concern to themselves.

This is because the act compromised their long-term existence as workers in the company. The company was faced by threats of closure due to the event.4. Former PCA employees are not liable for the offences committed by the management and, therefore they cannot be prosecuted. This is because the company’s management is fully responsible for the company’s products and activities. 5. Although employees are not directly responsible for mistakes committed by their employers, they should be cautious about unethical behaviors.

Leaders can encourage workers to report unethical behaviors at their workplace by protecting them from victimization. 6. Although reporting may compromise an employee’s relationship with the company, employees are encouraged to report unethical behavior to the authority. Industrial law protects them from victimization due to such cases.7. The case study illustrates typical behaviors in our work environment. Although workers and their employers have learnt to coexist with such norms, not all norms are necessary.

The case study illustrate that workers should not compromise their work ethics in any way what so ever.
