Extract of sample "Leadership Characteristics of My Uncle"

Leadership Paper 1A The leader under question is an uncle of mine who exhibits immense leadership tenets within his personal and professional lives. The different leadership characteristics that he displays embody how he analyzes a situation at hand, comprehends the right and the wrong alternatives, weighs them properly and then makes a decision based on what he has gathered by that time. He understands how others shape up their domains and gives them the room to maneuver their own selves which puts my uncle in a leadership position. He is usually seen doing things with a calm head and going about handling affairs on a one to one level with people having consummate ease at his end. 1B One example that I can give of my uncle in terms of his leadership tenets is the manner under which he resolves disputes and takes them in a head on fashion. He does not shy away from taking and allotting responsibility upon people because this is an aspect that is in close association with the leaders. It was once that there was a quarrel amongst two of his subordinates. This fight started off from a heated debate and ended up in a physical attack by both of them. My uncle intervened and sorted out the matter, much to the surprise of all concerned because people were mostly witness to the entire episode yet no one was willing to do anything to resolve the issue. My uncle stood firm and took both of them apart from one another since these individuals were at each other’s neck. This was a bold step considering my uncle was in no position to come in between as the fight had shaped up into a horrid one. He was adamant that they must not fight yet do something which would bring them down to the negotiating table. This worked wonders since when the two individuals cooled down in their respective zones, they sat down together and resolved their differences. What this meant was that my uncle played a phenomenal part at bringing the foes in close alliance with one another. It played the trick because then they were able to understand one another and do what was needed of them. The role of leadership played by my uncle was an important one all along and he was appreciated by people for this act. 1C I believe my uncle is a perfect example of someone who motivates people around him through his actions and demeanor. He is equally well-conversant with his fellow colleagues, friends, peers, employees and relatives. He tries to speak to everyone on their own level which is a definite plus that he has at the end of the day. My uncle derives his motivation from within and this is the reason he is a hit amongst many people for a number of reasons. Meanwhile, this is the aspect that makes him a winner since he is achieving quite a few goals and achieving objectives all on his own. His motivational theory is therefore based on the premise that he likes to understand things from a Marxist approach. It makes him an exceptional case because he is doing an act which is appreciated by all and sundry, as far as leadership tenets are concerned, which then again form up a considerable source of motivation. Hence I would like to suggest that my uncle hits the nail on the head when he performs several of his tasks day in and day out. The act on his part is attractive to watch and for others, inspirational by all means. 2A As far as my personal leadership skills are concerned, the traits and values that I possess are largely concentrated on fulfilling the tasks and objectives that are significant on my part. What this means is the fact that I focus more on the short term goals so that the long term goals become apparent and crystal clear. Also my emphasis is to do one thing at a time and to prioritize things so that there are no anomalies or hiccups at any stage whatsoever. My leadership is usually derived from people whom I consider worthy leaders, both of the past as well as in the current times. I am mainly a strong supporter of getting my job done through my own hands which essentially gives me the experience and satisfaction upon completion. 2B I have been using my traits and values to good effect by being particular about what is required of me and then to do it in a manner that is bent upon achieving excellence. I focus more on the quality tangent than the quantity one and this is what makes me a winner. Whether or not I lead someone, what matters most to me is a vision to set things right and that too within quantifiable proportions. This is the basis of my success and I have always trusted such realms that have come in handy on most of the occasions. I have used my traits and values within my interpersonal skills and interactions with the people both on a personal level as well as a professional front. 2C My leadership style is participative as it takes into consideration just about everyone in order to reach a decision. I involve people at every stage so that they are accountable and also to make sure that there is no room for committing errors and mistakes. I do this in order to make people around me be a part of what they are doing. It also asks of them to get involved and make their voice get heard within the relevant thick of things. This is something that proves to be a winning drive for my leadership values which have been instilled within my personality for a long time now. I am glad that I am able to do something which comes in a difficult way for others. This is the exact manner for achieving success within the leadership circles, and I feel pride in taking ownership of the same. Read More
