The success of a restaurant chain is dependent on the performance of its employee. For the present study, Bombay Palace’s branch in the city of Westminster London that has been operating for more than 30 years has been selected. The present study will investigate motivation factors and the performance of Bombay Palace due to which the business remains to be successful and competitive in different regions.

The report determines the relationship between motivational factors and the performance level of the staff at Bombay Palace. The researcher adopted a mixed research approach to conduct the study. The researcher investigated the relationship between evaluated intrinsic and extrinsic factors of motivation and job performance of employees working at Bombay Palace. The findings and analysis reveal a significant relationship between extrinsic motivation factors and job performance indicating that the employees working at Bombay Palace are highly affected by the monetary rewards.

Moreover, the findings indicated insignificant relation with the intrinsic motivational factors (working relation, recognition, training, and Job security, and organization support. Motivation remains to be one of the important notions for public and private organizations. It is widely accepted that the motivation of employees has a direct impact on organizational performance and human resource practices. The organizations are focused to improve the performance of their employees to attain the overall objective of the organization and adequate motivational incentives.

It is because the efficient employee is a determinant of an organization’s performance. Thus, the performance of employees is an indicator of organizational performance (Dysvik & Kuvaas, 2011). The dynamic market conditions and complex external factors have put pressure on managers to develop effective human resource strategies to motivate their employees. One of the major challenges faced by the managers is to adopt suitable motivation incentives and leadership strategies to optimize the performance level of its employees.

Researchers claim that the management should identify the intrinsic and extrinsic factors carefully in order to develop effective human resource management policies to keep its employees motivated (Aguinis et al., 2013).
