My role as an R.T.I.T.B My role as an R.T.I.T.B Responsibilities An R.T.I.T.B. The has the prerogative to provide quality instruction to prospective operators. This instruction is based on the accredited material and methods of R.T.I.T.B. As an operator to reach and counterbalance trucks, I am charged with the responsibility of ensuring that my trainees understand the material thoroughly. They should be accredited reach and counterbalance truck operators’ by the end of their training program. The operators should be registered with the National Operator Registration Scheme (N.O.R.S.) upon completion of the course (RTITB Industrial Counterbalance Forklift Trucks 2013). I am responsible for training other instructors. I have to ensure that the prospective instructors pass their briefs and assessments. I have to ensure that they acquire the necessary experience and that they have clean records with the R.T.I.T.B. Prospective instructors also have to possess a clean bill of health. This will render them suitable to take up the responsibilities that come with being a reach and counterbalance truck instructor. Qualified instructors determine the quality of the instruction given at the training center. The third major responsibility that I have as an R.T.I.T.B. The instructor is to ensure that the training center is accredited. Accreditation is a continuous process that requires constant adherence. I am required to ensure that all the teaching material is up to date. I also have to ensure that the prospective operators are getting proper instruction. The quality of my work is determined by the kind of operators I am able to train. The team that I set up to assist me in the running the training program will determine the effectiveness of the center. Adherence to the requirements for accreditation will earn the training center a reputation for excellence. Sloppy work and a weak team will result in poor training and the loss of accreditation. It is, therefore, imperative that my team and I pursue excellence in the training program. Legislation The R.T.I.T.B. Training protocol is based on three major pieces of legislation. The first is the Health and Safety at work Etc Act of 1974. It requires that the employees of an organization should receive adequate instruction and training. This means that the instruction I give must be thorough and complete. The R.T.I.T.B. Training manuals take this legislation into consideration. This means that I should base my instruction on the R.T.I.T.B. Training manual to reach and counterbalance trucks. The second piece of legislation is the Provision and use of work Equipment Regulations passed in 1998. This legislation requires that all members of staff handling equipment must be conversant with the methods of equipment use. They must also familiarize themselves with the risks involved in operating reach and counterbalance trucks. This will enable them to exercise the necessary precautions. These two pieces of legislation assist employers in choosing the best instructors for their employees. The third piece of legislation is considered as special legislation. This is the ACOP. This is the Approved Code of Practice. It lists R.T.I.T.B. As a valid accrediting body. These pieces of legislation provide standards for instruction. By complying with them, I will be offering relevant and well rounded material. The trainees will understand how to operate the trucks safely. Complying with these regulations will also ensure that I am safe from legal suits. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion When training the employees of an institute, it is important to avoid bias. The group undergoing training should be a representation of the entire institute. It is important to have trainees in from all the departments in an institute. This will ensure that the program is embraced by the institute as a whole. There should be no gender bias. It is, therefore, advisable to have both genders represented in percentages similar to those of the entire employee population. The best method of achieving diversity, equality and inclusion is by pitching the idea to the management. The management should come up with a balanced list. As the R.T.I.T.B. Instructor, I should approve the list before starting the training program. This will provide the required diversity. During the instruction, I should provide level starting ground for the trainees. I should start from the basics to ensure that nobody is left to lag behind. During practice, every member of the team undergoing training must have a chance to test his or her abilities. R.T.I.T.B. Requires that six candidates be taught at a time. This guideline will ensure that the group is manageable. I will be able to give personal attention to each trainee and address his or her unique needs (RTITB Industrial Counterbalance Forklift Trucks 2013). Internal and external assessment requirements Internal assessments refer to the checks and follow ups I will carry on my own training program. These checks ensure that I am adhering to what is required of R.T.I.T.B. Instructors. These checks include a review of the material taught to the trainees. I can carry out internal tests to check the grasp my trainees have about the material. The instructors in training should have a chance to teach under my observation. This kind of internal assessment enables them to develop in their teaching prowess. Internal assessment helps gauge the need of the trainees. These needs can be compiled into a new course. External assessments refer to accreditation and examinations. These are carried out by the R.T.I.T.B. They are periodic. They are carried out to ensure that the training programs maintain the set standards. Examinations ensure that the trainees are equipped to handle the reach and counterbalance trucks. The refresher courses ensure that the operators remain fresh and informed. The requirement for the external assessment is that the training programs adhere to the rules of the R.T.I.T.B. I need to follow the standards set by the R.T.I.T.B. For assessments. The R.T.I.T.B. Has specified requirements as to who is a qualified instructor. They also offer training material and timetables. These standardize the program and how it is administered. The R.T.I.T.B. Also has requirements which successful candidates have to meet. The training, therefore, has to be thorough. Refresher courses are provided for trainees and instructors. These have to be attended to. Accreditation is carried out on a regular basis. To ensure that the training program remains relevant, I must ensure remains accredited (RTITB Industrial Counterbalance Forklift Trucks 2013). Record Keeping This is an indispensable part of the administration of an R.T.I.T.B training programme. There are several aspects that need to be recorded for the smooth running of the training program. The first record is a detailed compilation of trainees and class attendance details. This kind of record will gauge the readiness of the students based on class attendance The next record is a list of all the students who gain validation, registration and certification with the N.O.R.S. This list is a reflection of the success rate of the training program. This is because the examination is standard and thorough. Those who receive their certificates are therefore well trained candidates. Another indispensable record is a log of the trainees and the dates for their refresher courses. This helps in keeping them sharp. A record of the lessons taught and the content covered helps instructors, like me, identify areas of weakness in the instruction. This enables better coverage of the material. Updated instructors’ files are also necessary. These records enable the lead instructor to know and maintain the quality of the teaching staff. These include health tests and refresher course dates. Working with an updated team helps keep my program relevant. Accreditation records are crucial. They serve as proof that the training program meets the standards set by the R.T.I.T.B. It is crucial for the program to adhere to these standards. The standards keep the program relevant. They also portray a picture of excellence within the program. Other records include financial papers. These serve as proof of completed transactions. Financial records are kept for accounting purposes. Conclusion The responsibilities and requirements for an R.T.I.T.B. Instructor are many. All the components discussed above are crucial to my role. As an instructor, I am a manager. I have to ensure that my team, trainees and center are in proper working condition. R.T.I.T.B. Provides me with the guidelines I require to train reach and counterbalance truck operators. The material and support offered by R.T.I.T.B. set the standards for my performance.
