assignment is due Illegal immigrant deportation Supporters of immigrant deportation propose a bill that would speed up immigrant deportation. Supporters of immigrant deportation cry for strict deportation of illegal immigrants as they are under the belief that immigrants are the cause of all problems in United States of America. Their minds are too shallow to think the future of this unfortunate group of people who have left their homeland once and came to the land of America in search of a ‘life’. Immigrants have become a part of the US society. They are no longer aliens. They maintain families, raise and educate their children here, buy houses and pay tax like any US citizen. Most of them are from nations where it is difficult to get a job that can help them make a living. Moreover as they are arrested and deported for their ‘illegal’ status, it is unlikely that their homeland may give them a good welcome. They are likely to be prosecuted in their country. America seals these individuals as criminals and deports them. Americans are least bothered how these people would manage a sudden separation from a place where they have their families, houses and every belonging. The illegal immigrants who are deported often have to leave their children and spouses in America and return to their native country where prison and persecution is awaiting for them. Those who support and implement immigrant deportation never understand the pain of getting separated from little children and spouses. They are all miserable ones who chase the negatively privileged and smilingly watch their agonies and problems. Americans are least friendly towards illegal immigrants. Immigrants are facing deportation by U.S. Hospitals (Sontag, 2008). The case of Mr. Jiménez is just one of the cases of illegal immigrant deportation. Majority of the American hospitals repatriate ill and injured immigrants as they are not able to find a nursing home that is willing to accept a helpless patient without insurance. Medicaid seldom covers long-term care for illegal immigrants and for newly arrived legal immigrants. Deportation of helpless immigrants who are sick and injured is crueler than anything else. Immigrant deportation should be halted at least temporarily because of several humane reasons (Robert 3). Children of immigrants are separated from their parents who are deported to a distant land. Eyes of the Americans are still blind to see the plight of these unfortunate children who are left in a world which is unfriendly and cruel to them (U.S News 1). Illegal immigrants’ deportation should be avoided at least for the sake for the children of these immigrants. Those who consider immigration as a curse are not at all aware that immigration has influenced the United States in several positive ways. Immigrants made the United States what it is now. The United States would never be the same if it had a less flexible immigration policy. However immigrants are always looked down by the native people. The America has never been good to immigrants. The native people are least merciful to the disadvantaged Indians and the desperate African immigrants who migrated to America, their ‘dream land’ with a bright hope. These unfortunate immigrants who came to their new land with the ‘American dream’ encountered nothing but poverty, exploitation and discrimination. Immigrants suffer segregation in work places, educational institutions and all other spheres of social, political and cultural life. They are falsely accused as undocumented workers, and are not given proper treatment in the job places. They are often paid less than the minimum wage as they are helpless and never dare to report to police. In spite of all this, immigrants are ill-treated and offended wherever they go. In the Unites States of America the negatively privileged immigrants are wrongly convicted and punished. They are unnecessarily suspected and punished. A native who commits the same crime is left without punishment often. Immigrants are falsely doubted and convicted for the mistake they haven’t committed. They are often wrongly suspected for carrying drugs even though reports on criminal activities reveal that immigrants are less likely to carry drugs or weapons with them compared to the natives. Law enforcement department officials consider ethnic background, color, race and nationality for criminal suspicion. The number of immigrants who are given death penalty is increasing at a fast rate. Racial profiling is yet another issue confronted by the immigrants. Police officers often stop, check, and examine the vehicles of immigrants without any reason or proof about the misbehavior or criminality of the person. Other types of racial profiling suffered by immigrants include bicycle stops, using police attack dogs, unnecessarily suspecting and checking shops and marts, immigration worksite raids, and stopping pedestrians without any reason. African-Americans and Latinos are the victims of racial profiling in majority of the cases. Nearly 10 million Asians (4 percent of the population) have already been victims of racial profiling according to reports. Indians in America also had testified their complaints about stops and searches of local police. They complained about the vehicle check, (demanding license and registrations) and other checks done by police without any reasonable suspicion. Security guards at main offices or private institutions, police officers, and officers like airport security agents are having policing right which they misuse to trouble immigrants. There were cases when airline pilots demanded people to disembark from the flights, as they suspected passengers because of their unwanted doubts about ethnicity and other matters. Immigrant pedestrians are stopped questioned and checked without any reason. Non-white youths traveling in bikes are simply stopped and questioned for doing nothing wrong. There were incidents in which police dogs attacked non white civil rights protesters. Highway patrol canine units unnecessarily stop the vehicles claiming that they carry drugs. There exists a practice of threatening poor immigrants by releasing dogs. Dogs are trained to attack and maul and are sent to attack people. Several hundreds of immigrants were attacked in different incidents. Immigrants have to face unwanted questioning, harassment, and false arrest from various places. They are falsely doubted and accused for undocumented labor violations in immigration and naturalization services. They are recognized by their color, slang, dress and by their foreign sounding names. Several immigrants have complained about the police harassment at polling booths. Police has got a general belief that immigrants are mostly drug users and sellers. They falsely assume that blacks constitute the members of the groups of narcotic-traffickers and street gangs. This wrong prejudice of the law enforcement officers makes the innocent immigrants falsely convicted and even pushed towards death penalty. There is a wrong notion that immigrants and racially inferior people commit majority of the violent crimes in the United States, even though truth is just the opposite. The problems caused by the immigrated people are found to be trivial compared to the other security problems. Immigration is not a threat to national security the United States. Immigrants should not be oppressed and not deported because of humane reasons. Immigrant deportation should be halted at least temporarily because of several humane reasons.
