POSTCOLONIAL STUDIES Colonialism Until 20th century most of the countries were under colonial rule, they were annexed into the colonial empire. The national movement or the movement for independence was a part of national resurgence. This annexed all aspects of national life, religions, and social educational, cultural and economy. One conman desire animated all regions in India was to achieve independence. In 1856, Canning took British Empire in India, had extended its boundaries form Indus in the west to Burma in the east and from the Himalayas in the North to Kanya Kumari (cape comrin) in the south. Canning brought out peace allover India by dividing the territories into two. The East India Company ruled one and Indian princes who owed faith to the East India Company ruled the rest. The Indians who knew the antecedents of the East India Company were skeptical about the temporary peace. In 1857 during summer, British domination in India was shaken up by revolt of sepoy mutiny or the First war of Independence by Indian soldiers. The revolt of Indian soldiers in the year 1857 was radically a different that of other revolts taken place in the years 1806 at Vellore, Bengal in 1842 etc., The British soldiers were killed by the Indian soldiers and marched to Delhi in the year 1857. They declared Bahadur Shaw, Mogul Emperor as the Emperor of India in 1857. Bahadur Shaw issued a proclamations asking the people of India, Hindus and Muslims alike-to end the tyranny and oppression, the infidel and treacherous English the knowledge of English gained by Indian had helped them in communication and expedited the process of national integration amongst various communities and religious. The developing nations standard has to be accepted by one and all. Western countries were also once existed as colonies and developed as super powers. In the recent past all the veto power or there is a great brain drain from the third world to the western countries. Speaking of origin doesn't make a justifying statement here. Post colonialism The publication of new papers in Indian languages and English was very few. Lawyers and patriots mainly held the publication of Indian News papers. The newspapers published in Calcutta covering the incidents and occurrence in various places used to reach villages and other places after gap of many number of days that to often duly censor by the Government Agency. The British Government had provided good educational facilities by imparting English language that helped the Indian to communicate with other countries to liberate Indian from the British. The English language has become to day an important weapon in the field of media, communication and in the scenario of modern development in Electronics, computers and web technology. "Historians have long acknowledged that the so- called European age in modern history began to yield place to other regional and global configurations toward the middle of the twentieth century."1 In the modern society due to advancement of technology in the fields of electronics, communication, Radio, TV, communication satellites, the media is now able to transmit or send news and messages within a very short time. The people are now in position to see, read and talk directly to the other side through videoconferences. Messages can be sent through e-mails to anywhere within five seconds once it set in motion. The worldwide computer network is the backbone of IT revolution. This network was able to work when special cables, and telephone lines and wireless measures are installed for quick delivery of information from one place to the other irrespective of distance. Today, the media can acquire any form of information in digital format. Modern techniques allow powerful ways and us to use images in media very effectively. The image information is useful in medical treatment also. The media is able to get even geographical information systems through remote sensing and image processing helps them to find out details of very small remote geographical location of land through positioned satellites. Information technology has changed paradigms used in our every day lives. In the pace, which the third world countries are going surely in near future may equate itself with developed nations. The third world nations once depended on western countries but now technically and manufacturing wise the countries could rely upon themselves for some major tasks to be successfully completed. And a major part of the third world nation doesn't agree western nations intervening. "If there is a politics to what has become known as post structuralism, then it is articulated in this passage which unnervingly weaves capitalist economic exploitation, racism, colonialism, sexism, together with, perhaps unexpectedly, 'History' and the structure of the Hegelian dialectic."2 In the ruling matters the third world countries are inclined to spend its nations income in war and ammunition because of which could not progress in the way of they are to be and for all this the reason are the western countries which support and help the rival nations what they earn. They are already developed nations and instead of giving a helping hand to under developing nations if they raise objections it is nothing but they are not progress loving and peace loving nations. "The European colonizer of the nineteenth century both preached this Enlightenment humanism at the colonized and at the same time denied it in practice."3 The contemporary third world that exists along with the developed and underdeveloped countries is an experience to all the countries what the third world has experienced is never experienced by the developed countries. The pain and agony through which the third world has experienced has become the eye opening. The primary reasons for such experiences are the developed countries, which used to exploit underdeveloped countries in every possible manner. The countries worst affected under the third world countries are the Asian countries. These Asian countries with countries of other continents are made as colonies. There are many historical processes, which lead to political, economic, and cultural dependency of the third world. These countries slowly emerging from the clutches of the slavery and the bonded labor have become internally strong, independent and with rich cultural heritage. This glorious journey is a result of centuries of struggle for independency. The global changes like World War I and World War II were truly influencing the third world countries to reclaim their national sovereignty. The slump in the financial position of the ruling countries because of the two world wars Lead them in slowly started slowly backing off men and military from each country. Apart from that during their regime in two countries the bounded labor and slavery slowly revolutionized and started opposing and revolting against the colonial rule. After decades and decades of struggle and fight for independence was finally achieved. But along with independence there were umpteen numbers of responsibilities. There are not only responsibilities but also new challenges to foresee with. Tackling poverty, diseases, insufficient, funds, armed forces, foreign affairs, internal issues etc. In colored community, very less skill level people are there and job opportunities are more in the manufacturing sector, women and racial or ethnic minorities are less to posses the human capital and its characteristics are associated in its job opportunities. To get a job one has to be skilled in a particular area. Every company looks for an ideal candidate who should be an asset to the company and should not become a liability. Colored groups (immigrants from Asia and Africa) earn less compare to whites. So which is different wages for each category or group. In cultural context colored women are not allowed to grow in their career life or in personal life, they prefer not to work outside the home. Compared to colored the Whites are more liberal and enjoy gender equality provided by the European countries constitutional laws. Whatever the reasons there still exists inequality among these groups. In the past Blacks were always seen as enemies in most of the white dominated countries, the reasons might be anything, might be their intelligence, their economic power, their ability to handle difficult situations, etc. The Blacks were known not only for their physical strength but also for their inventive methods in labor department, and were always successful in whatever the field they had chosen. Blacks were seen as enemies in many societies. During the civil war in US it seemed as perfect situation for those people who always hated the Blacks and used their forces to suppress them. The war has witnessed most of the Blacks being brutally murdered and thrown out of their respective homes. The White forces had committed many atrocities against the Blacks. "Dealing with a past that refuses to be suppressed, that is daily doing battle with the present."4 In US the Blacks are the largest immigrants. They migrated from the far lands of the black continent Africa. In the past, since these countries were not as developed as US and their socio-economic structure was on decline, many of the citizens were forced to work as slaves and have to migrate to US. In US, Black immigrants have less education and less skill set, even among Black women also. Apart from other groups these Blacks have less human capital, so they have very less employers in their group and it is indirectly affecting their economic status and social environment also. Gender inequality was always prevailed among the Blacks. Since they were not the major community and further more they were immigrants, they had to face the brunt of racial abuse. One of the reasons of racial abuse was, fear among the US citizens was losing the jobs to these immigrants. Since the Blacks were ready to work for fewer wages there always lies the danger of losing jobs. Most of the Blacks were more or less unskilled or semi-skilled. This makes them of losing jobs very often. This brings more responsibilities on average Black women. Now she has to work outside to meet the daily requirements and look after the family.
