Water pollution usually occurs when a water body gets contaminated by different materials which are usually not present in it and which are harmful in nature. So in such a situation the water body is no longer useful for its intended use and hence is termed as polluted. If we consider the case of pollutants, there are two variants of water pollution. They are called as point source and non point source. Point sources of pollution happen when harmful substances are emitted directly in the water body and non point sources are those which deliver pollutants indirectly usually through environmental effects. It is generally regarded that water pollution which arises from non point sources are usually difficult to deal and ironically these are the ones which account for a majority of the contaminants in water bodies like streams and lakes. In order to understand the whole scenario clearly lets give a brief introduction to causes of pollution. We all know that there are many elements which cause pollution. Some of the important ones are sewage and fertilizers. These are dangerous because they contain nutrients like nitrates and phosphates. The main problem is that these nutrients stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and excessive growth of these organisms clogs the waterways. They also block light to the deeper section of the water body and this affects fish and other living organisms. Pollution is also caused when silt and other suspended solids, such as soil, construction and logging sites, urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains. Normally, lakes, rivers, and other water bodies undergo Eutrophication, an aging process that slowly fills in the water body with sediment and organic matter. When these sediments enter various bodies of water, fish respiration becomes impaired, plant productivity and water depth become
The era of globalization might have changed the shape of the world we live in but it had affected the environment in the process…
Composts and other organic amendments also raise the organic content levels in soils intrinsically poor in organic matter. Further, the recycling of waste materials in the form of organic soil amendments helps to resolve several problems related to practical, resource-recovery, environmental and economic issues arising from the disposal of large amounts of organic wastes.
Since all living things are made of carbon, the carbon cycle is essential to life. Plants obtain carbon atoms and other important elements from the atmosphere through the process known as photosynthesis. The carbon-engorged plants are consumed by animals that eat plants, thus obtaining carbon atoms for themselves.
Pollution has grown even more since the last five years than we can possibly imagine. If we actually dissect the whole issue of pollution, it's the water pollution which has grown rapidly in the last few years than any other form of pollution. Factually speaking water bodies cover almost seventy percent of the earth's surface and the pollution hazards of it can create havoc and can bring earth to a catastrophic end.
The human diseases caused by water pollution include cholera, typhoid, dysentery intestinal helminthes, jaundice and f ever. (Tripath A.K, 2009)
Pollution occurs in many ways. First type of water pollutant is putrecible organic materials.
Thus the energy and operational efficiency of the machines or equipment or even the treatment process design to meet the overall efficiency were not key areas in the planning and design of wastewater treatment plants. United
He mentions the stop-gap measures that the local and national government has taken in order to help curb the problem. In the end, he reminds his readers that water pollution is a problem that affect us all, regardless of how far away the water
Even though this fact is recognized by humans, they disregard it by polluting lakes, rivers, oceans and seas. Water pollution causes many problems which includes diseases and killing of fish. Polluted water is also detrimental to human beings and animal life. The thesis will contend that water pollution comprises thermal pollution, industrial effluent and flooding.
Food supplies and provision of adequate food are problems that currently affect the human population because of lack of access clean and fresh water. It means different countries are unable to suggest preventive measures to safeguard humanity from succumbing to the dangers posed by both water shortage and its eventual pollution.
