A preliminary meeting with all the personnel and staff must be done about what are the alternative remedies that can be done before regular work time hours are lessened and before anyone employed within the company gets laid off. The alternative remedies or solutions must be solicited from the present employees of the company, and each suggestion/opinion must be fully considered in terms of its advantages and disadvantages for the financial upkeep of Sunbelt Video. If an alternate plan, aside from cutting hours and laying off has been considered – then a significant period must be given to make the aforementioned alternate plan work. It is vital in any company operation for employees to actively partake in decision-making about the longevity of the company. After all, it is their bread and butter on the line.

Relatively speaking, persons in authority must discern that leadership is mainly creating a goal and paving the way for others to follow. However, this means that those following the pre-set objective do not have any idea of how to accomplish the goal. Thus, it would be quite difficult for others to carry on where somebody has left off should any difficulties arise during achieving the objective (Team Technology, n.d.). On the other hand, management that lacks leadership usually just handles things according to set principles and traditions, making sure that everything should conform to a pre-set guideline (Team Technology, n.d.) hence innovations are often dismissed and are rarely considered.
Regarding Bob Franklin’s behavior, Pat Jones must handle the situation in a very
professional manner where she must have a one-on-one conversation with him. During the exchange, Bob must be made to understand the financial plight of the company and must be told that if he has any kind of grievances to air regarding management’s decision or otherwise, then he must approach the proper authority and discuss them accordingly.
In true-to-life situations or circumstances, it is essential to consider all the factors so that the risk which will be undertaken or any unforeseeable risk as a result or consequence of a decision or action is minimized. In addition, real situations must be analyzed on a case-to-case basis where flexibility and a combination of different principles should be applied. Considering the facts, managers or company owners also work with a tight budget that needs to have results within a specified time, so the need to finish the work to acquire the needed return of the money or investment is logically passed on to the workers who are expected to work for what they earn (Changing Minds.org, n.d.).

Congruent to the foregoing a good leader or manager is described to be people focus. This does not mean having an outgoing and friendly personality. Often, good leaders are quiet and maintain a degree of distance between themselves and their respective followers (Changing Minds.org, n.d.). And while they may not be outwardly sociable they are often result-oriented individuals who can manage people better and gives credit where they are due (Changing Minds.org, n.d.). While there may be a lot of concepts regarding management and leadership, the ultimate concern is to make things within the workplace better to induce a harmonious working relationship.
