Good Pedagogical procedures – addressing corrections Introduction The role of a teacher has been important in the social system from the ancient age. Teachers are responsible for the growth of the students and hence are the architects for the future. Therefore, appropriate pedagogical measures are important for imparting knowledge to the students and correcting them when necessary. A. The role of a teacher assumes much more significance when addressing to a large number of students. The correctional measures taken by teachers help the students to rectify their mistakes and follow the correct way.

To provide corrections to a large group of students a teacher has to employ good pedagogical procedures. One of the main features of the good pedagogical procedures is giving feedback to the students. The teacher has to create an environment conducive to offering feedback. The class should be interactive and the teacher should encourage questioning from students. Good pedagogical measures deals in correcting the faults of the students. When faced with a big class the teacher can employ different tactics to deal in correctional methods.

One of the most effective ways is to do daily reviews. This requires solving problems by recollecting the teachings of the previous class. The problems, if any, regarding the previous lessons are solved. Another effective way is providing homework lessons. Through the homework lessons, the problems regarding understanding can be solved. Class participation from the students can solve the problems regarding the lessons. The main motive for feedback strategies is to make the students understand the lesson and correct the deficiencies if any.

(Teaching functions, n.d. pp 3-4)B. The five appropriate pedagogical procedures, which are useful in correctional measures, can be discussed as follows: Reteaching: Reteaching is the process of teaching the lesson repetatively. The process is applied when the students do not get the essence of the lesson and there is room for improvement. With the help of the process the teachers can assure that, the student understands the lesson well.Improvement of instruction: Students may not be comfortable with the mode of instruction and this could hamper the understanding.

Therefore, it is the duty of the teachers to understand the problem and employ techniques to improve the mode of instruction. Co-operative learning: Co-operation among the class is very important for the correctional measures of the students. The students should be divided in groups and activities relating to the lesson should be encouraged. Working in groups can help the students to overcome deficiencies in a particular area. (Miller, 11th February, 2009)Whole class instruction: This is the process of providing the whole class with activities and functions relating to the lesson.

Researches have found that the method is more likely to engage students than during the time of direct instructions by the teachers. (Miller, 11th February, 2009) Monitoring: Constant reviewing of the performance of the students should be done so that the students can rectify their mistakes. Lessons should be checked and proper feedback to the students is to be given. This will help in rectifying the mistakes of the students. (Academic monitoring, n.d. pp 5-7)C. It is significant to preserve pride of the students and not embarrassing them while giving academic feedback.

Teachers should make the students understand that it is not a crime to make mistakes. It is a natural part of the learning process. If the students are embarrassed in front of the class, they may not participate in the class in the future. The teachers will not understand the problems of the students and students will not understand the essence of the lesson. This will hamper the basic criterion of learning. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the teachers to make the students feel comfortable in the class.

In this case, the feedback strategies occupy an important position and these strategies can be used to point out the deficiencies of the students. At the same time they will not be embarrassed and will be encouraged to participate in the class more. (Academic Feedback, n.d. pp. 6-7)D. Feedback is a vital part of the teaching process. With the help of this process, the growth of the student can be gauged. The appropriate feedback strategies can be discussed as follows: Creating an environment: It is extremely essential to create an environment, which is conducive to obtaining feedbacks.

Feedbacks consist of daily reviewing and monitoring of the students. Thus creating an environment, this promotes these functions help in feedbacks. Question: Questions are one of the most commonly used process for providing feedback to the students. The responses to the questions give a clear view of the progress of the students. The teachers should make the students understand that mistakes are a natural part of the learning process. Therefore, if the students make mistakes the teachers should offer him hints about the correct answers and in some cases teach the lessons again.

This augurs well for the class and the students are benefitted. Teacher reactions to student responses: The teachers should response to all queries of the students. It may happen that the teachers may not know the answers. In that case, the teachers should acknowledge the fact and ask for some time. This will create a good environment of the class and will encourage the students to interact more. (Academic feedback, n.d. pp. 3-4)Conclusion Good pedagogical measures are essential for the growth of the students.

Teachers are responsible for imparting corrective measures in students so that they could learn correctly. Feedback is an essential method to know the progress of the students. These measures help in becoming an effective teacher.References:1. Teaching functions.(n.d.). Research into practice. Pp 3-4.
