Strategy/Reform Plan for Egypt Social Preconditions that have led to the Current Events in Egypt Repression may lead to the concentration of power and this repression may or may not help. political repression is the persecution of members of a society by restricting their ability to participate in political and social activities. The power tends to incline towards a small segment of the population leading to a form of control that is not balanced. The control is over the use of the national resources.

In the light of the upheavals that have happened in Egypt, the social cause was a result of unbalanced control of the national resources (Iqbal, 2011). The lack of an orderly mechanism to curb such development, rebellion must occur in order to bring about the balance. The country has faced social problems such as the lack of jobs in spite of having a relatively high GDP (Gross Domestic Product). Many regimes find it difficult in solving problems started by their predecessors. When the citizens lack patience, unrest is bound to happen because no one has faith in the government (Iqbal, 2011).

It trickles down to the abilities of the leaders to provide to the people they lead. If that support lacks, upheaval and unrest will dominate the country. In the case of Egypt, the lack of jobs was a major concern and it fuelled its present scenario. Other than the social issues, political and economic issues also played an important role in the upheavals that rocked Egypt. The three issues social, political and economic intermingle with each other. Political Preconditions that have led to the Current Events in Egypt The quest for political change was eminent in the upheavals witnessed in Egypt.

The same scenario is all over the Arab nations such as Kuwait, Lebanon, Iran, Tunisia, Yemen and other nations. According a study conducted among these nations, majority of nationals preferred a democratic government. However, a later survey showed that majority of them preferred life in the communist nations such as China rather than the multiparty democracies found in India. The multiparty democracies indicate unbalanced expectations and a political environment with limited awareness (Janardhan, 2011).

The upheavals in Egypt indicate that the citizens are looking forward to a new political order. The people primarily want a system of government that will attend to people’s specific needs (Janardhan, 2011). The authoritarian system serves to defend the corruption that is deep rooted. The system gives much power to individuals for it to perform and disseminate corruption (Aslund, 2011). Economic Preconditions that have led to the Current Events in Egypt Evidence from the past indicates may give a clue to the domestic unrests that happened in Egypt.

The political repressions witnessed correlate positively with the income inequality and the lack of non-violent economic opportunities such as the economic deprivation. The level of income is also low. The economic problems are closely associated with the increase in the share of the young in the population, population density, and unemployment. These factors are important instigators for the political change on the assumption that the political change would bring the economic change needed (Iqbal, 2011).

Are The Current Upheavals Revolution Or Military Coup? A military coup is an event that involves the military taking over power or overthrows the current government through extrajudicial deposition. The current upheavals are because of the quest for revolution. Military coup in a way plays a role but in small amounts. The countries witnessing the upheavals have political rulings that based on authoritarian system of ruling. Corruption in these countries is deep rooted and afforded protection by the authoritarian system of ruling.

Prediction of the Outcomes The countries facing these domestic arrests have a future that is so uncertain. With the takeover by the military, the economic situation as well as the social and political will face instability. Currently, the price of most commodities has risen and affected the citizens of these countries as well the neighboring countries. Harsh economic, political and social times are looming and unless action is taken to rectify the current situation, worse will happen.
