Lip Sync
Lip Sync is in fact a shorter term for lip synchronization. Lip sync is considered to be contentious in live performances since it uses prerecorded sound, but I believe if it serves its purpose it should be used to achieve the desired results.

This is especially applicable when they are performing live dances to large audiences or when they want to cover for certain inefficiencies they might encounter in the course of their performances like illnesses. Television stations have been known to commonly force lip-syncing performances for guests who appear shortly in their shows. This is because lip-syncing requires little practice time and greatly makes the sound mixing process appear simple. I believe that several artists use their lip-syncing techniques when they are not confident with the act assisting them in the elimination of the probability of hitting bad notes during their performances. During a live performance, many fans and other industry members frown at those practicing lip-syncing as adopting strategies used by armatures.

During the recording of a video for a song, the video along with music tracks are usually separately recorded. This enables the performing artists to lip-sync during their songs and imitates playing musical instruments (Miller, Vandome & McBrewster, 101). Lip syncing is an act that is greatly facilitated by the inability of an artist’s lung to hold through the physical activities they go through when performing live or when recording their music and dancing at the same time. This activity usually requires actors to possess lungs that are well trained to enable them to handle such large pressures. For instance, Will Smith did avoid lip-syncing during his performances in his song ‘Wild Wild West’ during the MTV awards show. This was despite the fact that it was quite visible at the end of his performance that he was exhausted. The act of lip-syncing can additionally be utilized in instances where the backup crews along with sound systems cannot be housed.

It is my strong belief that lip-syncing is used for concealing a musician’s weakness to the public during their live or recorded performances. There are several artists who have successfully utilized the technique of lip-syncing in their performances without any visible differences being witnessed by their audiences. For instance, in the year 1983, Michael Jackson successfully utilized the technique in his televised appearance at ‘Motown 25: Yesterday, Today and forever. This was done without the audience noticing that the words were not wholly coming from the artist (Miller, Vandome & McBrewster, 128).in conclusion, I believe that if lip-syncing will serve its purpose of making a performance good, it should be practiced as it produces the required effects and the audience enjoys the performance without having to strain the performer because they will use prerecorded sound.
