?The nursing shortage in U.S. hospital The US economy is on its way to resurgence implying that it plunges into a great challenge in the past years. There are significant areas in the country that are affected by this event in its economic history. One of these areas is its health care system. In particular, the market for nursing jobs is faced with tremendous challenges. This further implies that the US needs to do something about it in order to revive and compete in the world market for nursing jobs. The US economy is faced with significant challenges due to the issue of its stability and growth. In the modern economy where everything is associated with significant value, nurses tend to be more sophisticated in choosing where to invest their time and skills. Clearly, they would want to go for sustainability and it is implied that those countries with good economic performance are most likely to be part of their choices. Furthermore, the market for nursing jobs in the world is also very competitive leading the US to compete with other more stable economies. Thus, this would imply that the US needs to create a more competitive environment for nursing jobs. However, considering its present situation and problems with its health care system, the problem would become more complex leading nurses to perform more than just what is enough or required in order to meet the higher value paid for health care. In other words, more nurses would be willing to spend their time and invest their skills in countries where there is corresponding significant value for their professional service. The U.S. economy The U.S. economy is said to be on its way to resurgence (Zhang et al., 2011). This is an indication that the country suffered economic problem and once again is about to take the plunge to create a vibrant dominance in the world economy. In the same way, this is about time to restore the great impact that the U.S. economy brought to other economies such as Asia-Pacific which has become dependent on its trade and financial linkages with the U.S. (Zhang et al., 2010). The demand on nursing shortage in the U.S. The U.S. is on the process of hiring and rehiring its manpower in order to help boost the economy (Gertler, 2009). There is a major reason why there is a need to lay off some workers and to rehire them. For some reason, there is a remarkable economic significance of outsourcing manpower and that is to save or cut cost and ensure high return of investment. However, this is just the general view of how the U.S. economy tries to recover from the adverse impact of the world’s economic recession prior to 2010. A reported case about shortage of pediatric nurse educator in the U.S. was associated with competitive salaries, budget cut and other economic-related issues (Leonard et al., 2008). In line with this, there is a clear emphasis how the U.S. economy creates a significant impact even on the level of education for nursing in the first place. In the U.S. there is an advantage for clinical salaries. Thus, there is a great desire to go for clinical jobs compared to those careers only related to them. However, this is just a small part of the issue. The reported economic crisis in the U.S. is said to affect the healthy flow of economic condition in the country. In this reason, consumers are hesitant to spend more, bankers are cautious to lend and entrepreneurs are focusing on calculating risk (Brooks, 2009). In this kind of thinking, it is expected that the US has more than what the economic crisis could bring. Brook was right when he said that ‘the US is in psychological crisis.’ In whatever ways it could be said about the U.S. recent economic condition, everything is clear that it started with a simple declaration about its economic status in the world. The impact of the said move triggered beyond economic understanding because people are given with ambiguous information about the status of the U.S. economy. There is no exact information that could tell up to what level does the US economy is trying to move or achieve its revival. People need assurance at this time and it cannot be denied that no one is 100 percent sure to invest in an economy that has no specific assurance of growth. In other words, the US economy has become the center point of scrutiny. In line with this, some of the US organizations try to invest in other economies for the sake of obtaining their corporate advantage in the world. In particular, this created significant impact on various sectors or industries in the U.S. In the health sector, there was a significant impact and that is the ongoing demand for nurses due to their shortage. The very reason is that nurses are trying to go seek the other economies due to the ongoing reputation of the U.S. economy (Leonard et al., 2008). This would mean less market value for the US economy for nursing jobs. In the world where everything is associated with the economic performance of each nation, everything is based on how much can be achieved or there is corresponding consideration for the value of everything. The unstable reputation of the US economy gives significant idea among nurses to invest their time and effort to more sustainable opportunities. For instance, more nurses are trying to apply in Europe because there is great number of a demand for nursing jobs there. This means that the US is faced with another important challenge and that is the ongoing competition among other countries with remarkable requirements for nursing jobs. The UK for instance is also in great need for a substantial number of nurses. In the same way, the Middle East and Islamic countries have substantial requirements for nursing jobs. As a result, the ongoing competition between these big economies in the world enables the US to compete in the market for nurses. However, due to unstable economic reputation of the US in the world, nurses are most likely to go find for sustainable economies where they could enjoy higher benefits and advantages when they would invest their time and skills. Sustainability issue As stated earlier, nurses are becoming sophisticated and they are most likely to look for sustainability because they want long term jobs in which they could maximize their skills and income. Thus, it cannot be argued that nurses are finding potential markets for nursing jobs in order to ensure sustainability. At some point, it is important that the link between economic performance of the country and sustainability issue are remarkable because there is an ongoing trend that nurses are most likely to look for countries where there is higher rate for nursing jobs and at the same time with stable economies. As mentioned earlier, the US is faced with remarkable competition in its market for nursing jobs. Some other countries are offering more advantageous offer for nurses compared to what the US can offer. From the start, the US is having trouble with its health care and in fact this can be elaborated by its attempt to create more meaningful policies. At some point, this whole event is associated with economic concerns. The US health care is said to be one of the best in the world, but is having a remarkable reputation of being too expensive. By this level of problem that the US is faced with, it cannot be denied that one of the most affected areas in its policy development is its manpower for health care. In detail, nurses could be affected considering that there is a need to maximize their output or areas of responsibility to the fullest just to have the best compensation. In other words, nurses in the US are required to perform the best and even more, just to be compensated with the best. Furthermore, there is going to be a higher standard needed for their jobs which basically would require more than just what would be enough. While faced with unstable economic condition, this creates a great challenge for the US in their market for nursing jobs. Nurses are looking for stable economy and they want more assurance. Since they are sophisticated, they tend to look for stable economy which it would be worthy of their time and skills. Since the US demands for higher quality due to its high value for health care, nurses would be more willing to have their skills and talents given to stable economies that could ensure sustainability in the long run. Conclusion It is important to consider that there is a strong link or association between the US economy and the world market for nursing career. This would imply that the economic crisis experienced by the US created a remarkable impact on career opportunities of nurses within the US health care system.
