This assignment focuses on the book, written by Mitch Albom in 1997, to pay for his favorite teacher’s medical bills, “Tuesdays With Morrie” has sold more than 1 million copies and is one of the top literature used to teach and cultivate critical thinking skills in undergraduate health care courses. The researcher states that with the rapid advance in biology and medicine, several ethical questions have arisen: what is the connection between life sciences and the field of law and public policy? How do the social sciences touch upon the issue of life and death? How does one care for a person who is dying? “Tuesdays With Morrie” verbalizes these connections and raises issues about gerontology, geriatrics, and end of life care. This paper outlines some of the moral dilemmas raised by the book as well as some of its implications to health care. The story raises various moral dilemmas, perhaps the most important of which is the understanding of death. In the book, Morrie remarks, “Everyone knows they’re going to die, but nobody believes it”. This was a comment not only about the fear of death, but also, the lifestyles that people live. Morrie believed that most Americans do not prepare for death, hence they are unable to appreciate their lives. It is then concluded that today, people prioritize work over their families because they think they need money in order to enjoy life, but in the process, they waste their time working, never realizing that their families are moving on without them. ...

People who reached this stage are self-aware. They are more concerned with personal growth, and less with the opinions of other people (Cherry, n.d.). Maslow characterized the people who reached this stage as those who view world with sense of appreciation such that simple experiences become source of inspiration and pleasure (Cherry, n.d.).
The author shows that medicine is not an exact science: illnesses may be misdiagnosed due to lack of information. Uncertainty and ambiguity can happen because of the patient’s value system. The discussion of ethical issues is recognition that medicine is primarily concerned with a patient’s physiological well-being directed to his social good.
Exposing the children to this strand of hepatitis was in no way beneficial to them but the editorials praised the medical professionals for their work and supported their research. People whom criticized the ethics of this research saw no potential gain for using people that were in state institutions or mental hospitals to be exposed to hepatitis for no reason at all rather than to experiment on them.
This conflict of ethical perspectives originates in the conflict of cultures, norms, beliefs, values, trends and traditions. Our perceptions of ethics and our definition of good and bad is fundamentally influenced by our cultural traditions and learning. This paper provides a comprehensive insight into my perceptions about the different aspects of ethics including the most convincing system of ethics, ethics’ principles, definition of good life, source of ethics, definition of ethically bad life, judgment in the realm of ethics, value of ethical decisions beyond immediate outcomes, and its implications on humans.
