This professional portfolio is product-oriented and will demonstrate my competencies, experience, and knowledge as a novel graduate registered nurse (RN) that meets the national competency standards framework which is central in the provision and delivery of safe, competent care by RNs (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council [ANMC], 2005).

While many healthcare institutions that transition to electronic record storage may incur costs at the beginning, the transformation eventually increases data access and reliability, as well as reduces the cost of data storage and the occurrence of errors. At the same time, electronic data may potentially allow for real-time public health surveillance, as well as promote speedier emergency response.

It has been observed that kidney failure is a condition that has affected people in various parts of the world.  An example of a place where kidney failure has greatly affected the population is Australia where the aboriginal groups of people have experienced a number of kidney problems (Aparicio, Chauveau, & Combe, 2001).

Elderly financial abuse is a growing area of concern in Australia. It is the most common form of reported or suspected abuse in Australia (Wilson, 2009, p. 12). According to Helmes& Cuevas (2007, p. 12), financial exploitation or abuse is defined as the illegal or unauthorized use of elders’ funds, property, or assets.

Mental health nursing is considered therapeutic because it is classified as a healing art that is helping an individual in need of psychological healing. Additionally, mental health nursing can be seen as an interpersonal relationship since it encompasses the interaction between individuals who share a common goal and objective (Fitzpatrick & Kazer, 2006).

The patient is a 23-year-old woman named Tania and presents symptoms of an eating disorder such as drastic weight loss, restrictive eating, excessive excitement, and being too much concerned with dieting. Treatment of an eating disorder is principally a mental health issue and hence nurses and other healthcare providers who care for patients like Tania should provide physical care as well as psychological care.

Generally, having a healthy population is critical for the growth and development of any nation. A healthy population means a productive workforce and fewer healthcare costs (Markus and Rosenbaum 2010, p. 54). Nevertheless, there has been an increase in health problems in different countries across the globe.

Nursing competencies are the key requirements needed in nursing professionals’’ behavior or conduct in order to provide quality care in the practice. On the other hand, disasters are events that bring significant damage to life and property as well as overwhelm the community’s resources. (Veenema, 2013).

It is essential to state that hypertension occurs when the systolic and diastolic blood pressures (BP) are more than or equal to 140mmHg and 90mmHg respectively (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare [AIHW] 2012). In addition, it is also described as a patient on antihypertensive medication (AIHW 2012).

The paper presents relevant evidence to individuals at risk or suffering from Type 2 Diabetes and illustrates how these patients suffering from this niche of chronic diseases can take control and play a significant role in their health and prevent progression to a chronic illness or development of serious complications.

This research investigates how to apply the new and applicable model in tackling the current challenges in the ministry of health in Oman. The ministry of health faces numerous challenges in the quality delivery of services to its citizens. The research explains some of the new changes that should be conducted in the ministry that may act as drivers for sеrviсе and quality imрrоvеmеnt in Oman ministry of hеаlth.

Drivers for quality and service improvement in the health sector have four major goals to accomplish. One of the goals is to make the health sector safe, the second aspect is to facilitate efficiency. The other reasons are to make the service delivery equitable to all the patients and lastly to improve the affordability of health services.

This study focuses on evidence-based practice that focuses on the diversity of nurses’ thinking on Diabetes Mellitus narrowed down to Type 2 Diabetes for younger people in Australia. Type 2 Diabetes is a condition that progresses over time making the body resistant to the effects of insulin and/or slowly unable to produce enough insulin in the pancreas.

Every aspect of healthcare interaction is highly dependent on effective communication. From making an appointment, registering with a health care facility, description of symptoms, and discussing interventions and treatment depend on effective communication for both parties involved to be able to develop a common understanding and the necessary solutions.

Some essential concepts and definitions are worth expounding before embarking on the detailed discussion. One of the most significant of these terms is communication. According to Lunenburg; “Communication is defined as the process of transmitting information and common understanding from one person to another person”.

Elizabeth Rose Green had experienced unrelieved pain in her central chest and left shoulder for ten minutes. She was living alone but was in the company of her dog at the time. To steer and orient health systems to patient-centered and evidence-informed approaches, it is important for governance to rely on new tools for promoting performance measurement and accountability in the context of broadened alliances and partnerships. Establishing strong governance at the planning, policy, provision, and purchasing levels facilitates rapid changes concerning the culture of service delivery.

Nonverbal communication is communication between people through wordless clues. The wordless clues are used to send and receive information from the communicating parties (Montague et al. 2013). It is assumed that the clues have information and people are capable of differentiating them thus universal.

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is a professional body that offers guidance to nurses and midwives by giving a range of professional standards that help define nurses’ behavior and practice (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia 2011). Such professional standards include the codes of ethics, conduct, professional boundaries guides as well as standards of competency.

Hypertension is a condition in which the long-term force of the blood against the walls of the artery is high enough that it may end up causing health problems including heart disease. The condition is also referred to as high blood pressure and it is determined by the amount of blood the heart pumps and the amount of resistance to the blood flow in the artery.

Being one of the largest health professions in Australia (AIHW, 2011 n.p), It is necessary for nurses to feel valued and appreciated while in the line of duty so as to deliver impeccable services to the patients. In a nutshell, nurses face various problems in the profession given that it is a highly demanding job making it stressful for the nurses and leading to cases of labor turnovers.

The nursing profession is one of the most popular professions in our world today. A nurse is usually knowledgeable in the medical and technical aspect of their profession, but it isn’t a given that they would be good when it comes to human relations, since this isn’t really a given among the people in the profession.  

There are several ways wherein we could effectively control the spread of conjunctivitis infection. By continuously promoting the importance of personal and hand hygiene practices, people will be able to protect themselves from having their eyes become infected with conjunctivitis virus or bacteria. 

A move into specialization is called differentiated nursing and this can be defined in terms of titles (as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, nurse practitioners, advanced practice nurse, etc.) and functions (pediatric, geriatric, long-term care, acute or emergency treatment, psychiatric, post-operative care, etc.).

The concept in practice can be seen in the case of Sally and Paulette. Sally is a new nurse manager. During her orientation process, Paulette is her assigned preceptor. After three attempts the physicians decided to move to general anesthesia, mask inflation anesthesia in particular. Sevoflurane vapor and a laryngeal mask airway were applied. Studies show that the limitation of this theory is that most literature focuses on the cognitive aspects of culture and recommends learning the culture of the specific groups which is assumed to apply to everyone which can lead to stereotyping and lead failure to identify the needs of the individual receiving care.

The legal framework towards child care revolves around issues such as health, safety, child’s joy, and economic contribution to the wee-being of the child. There have been efforts to make sure that local authorities partner with children’s trust to find out what works best for the children and the young people in their area or field. 

Childcare is referred to as caring for and supervising children from their early years. Childcare plays an important role in the development of a child in a healthy manner in every sphere. Childcare covers a broad perspective and entails the different needs of the children from the initial days of their life to their following years of upbringing

Infection prevention is an essential effort in the operating department to minimize or prevent the risk of infection transmission to the patients or the healthcare providers. Evidence has indicated that healthcare personnel, as well as patients, may acquire infections in the operating department if appropriate care is not taken.  

As per my understanding data gathering for clients or patients is the main approach of ‘The 15 Steps Challenges’. The healthcare practices through which clinicians will have access to a wider range of data that includes symptoms, feeling, perceptions, preferences, beliefs, values, and necessary personal information (May & et. al., 2009).

Leadership in nursing is a very important thing that all people in this position must consider. For nurses to be productive and to be professional, they require a leadership style that will help them to achieve their goals. Nurse leaders have to be able to know how to help those below them to be able to achieve their professional goals.

The collected data has been analyzed with the help of using several techniques such as descriptive statistics in the form of considering ‘bivariate’ and ‘univariate’ analysis methods. The analysis of data also involved the use of certain measurement scales such as ‘nominal’, ‘ordinal’, ‘interval’, and ‘ratio’ scales along with the chi-square test.

The theory was built on fundamental elements of nursing care including knowing and understanding patient experience and that of the family, being with the patient, doing for the patients as they would treat themselves, enabling or providing for the capacity of patients for self-care and also care for their family and believe that the patient can get out of the situation and care for himself.

The different leadership styles can affect service delivery and quality of care within the community in individual case management. In addition, there is diversity within Western healthcare systems that has an impact on leadership decisions. Leaders are hence the advised to exhibit effective leadership behaviors and styles. 

Clinicians and nurses are always on the lookout for the best results from their practices. Although a nurse could be achieving good results, there is always the need to improve on the results, prompting the formal pursuance of research that would improve their weaknesses (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2005).

There is also a fire and emergency department that is on standby in case of accidents. The hospitals offer training occasionally to employees and nurses on how they should safeguard their health and how to handle emergencies like the first aid. All this is to ensure that the nurses and the rest of the staff are in a safe environment.

According to Glenn (2010), there are two forms of forces in an organization explained as either resisting or pushing forces. The pushing forces are strengths in the organizational culture that helps with the implementation of change while resisting forces are the negative elements of a culture or weaknesses that may impede or slow down change

Child poverty can be defined as the failure to provision of the necessities for a standard life for children. UNICEF-IRC (2005) describes child poverty as a condition within a society where children are deprived of the material, spiritual and emotional resources to enhance their survival and healthy development.

A therapeutic relationship with the patient in nursing is the essence of professional nursing (McCormack, 1997). Nurses are professionally responsible to understand the dynamics of the professional and therapeutic nurse-patient relationship. They are also required to create the relationship and maintain it within professional boundaries.

The patient and the nurse discuss on the matter of the suitable behaviour in such condition. This may include encouraging patients to participate in relevant groups available in the community. This includes providing a link between health care setting and community support. Referral systems available in the community are also discussed.
