Reflection 1Reasons for studying at the universityThere are various reasons to why I am currently studying at a university located at Australia Melbourne. Considering that the world is becoming a global village, due to the advances in technology, university education is gaining ground as becoming universal without regard to the original birthplace of the learner (Prosser & Trigwell 1999). It is on this regard that I chose to study at a university away from my place of birth, so that I can appreciate and learn different cultures.

The other reason is to enable me achieve my academic goals and to attain my objectives in life. My objective is to improve the living standards of all humanity, regardless of their race, gender, colour origin or any other inequalities. The university provides me with a platform to progress in the field, so that I’m not only become employed in the field, but to utilise the experience and the knowledge I gain in the field, to improve the living standards of humanity and to be a research professional in the subject.

Furthermore, I am studying at the university to gain more knowledge and expertise, so that in future, I become authority in the subject (Laurillard 2002). I am therefore studying in the university to gain knowledge in order to achieve my academic and life’s goals and the life of human beings. I also chose to study at the university due to its good reputation, locally and internationally. The university is respected as being among the leading universities, since the university produces graduates who are respected in the job market, this is due to the fact that the university offers its students jobs, as they learn, which enables the learners to get practical experience and techniques required in the job market.

Moreover, I chose to study at the university due to its location and convenience to me, the Campus is located in the City of Melbourne, near my apartment, hence it is very convenient to me. Moreover, the academic standards in the university are high, and the quality of learning is respectable. In addition, the university offers diverse disciplines, hence the course I always wanted to study is offered at the university. In addition, the reason why I am studying at the university is due to the university’s multicultural background; the university has students from several geographical origins.

The multicultural setting of the university enables the students like me, to interact with different persons with divergent views, opinions, cultures and perceptions. This allows us the students, to learn and appreciate the divergent cultures; moreover the university has several extra curriculum activities hence growing not only academically but also from the social perspective (Fry 2009). In conclusion, I chose to study in the university due to its positive reputation, convenient location, multicultural environment and enabling me to achieve my goals in life.
