However, the subsequent events, including the Vietnam war, the Cold War, and the Gulf wars, have created dilemma in the minds of intellectual citizens who want to live with peace, liberty, and security. It seems that some nations consider the mighty armaments industry of the USA as a threat, which also jeopardizes global security, liberty, and peaceful harmony. The cold war still persists between Russia and the USA, and the two countries consider each other as enemies even though many agreements have been signed in the past (Pesov, 2010). The message of Eisenhower reiterated expansion of military to support the peaceful goals, but it seems that the USA has invited more jealousy and animosity. North Korea, Iran, Lebanon, and several Muslim countries are increasing their military strength to match the mightiness of the American military establishment. Isn’t the peaceful goal lost somewhere? Haven’t the desires of American leaders to manufacture sophisticated arms and to sell them at profit to other countries subdued the peaceful goals of American citizens? Understanding this concept is vital to understanding much of contemporary American defence policy. A military-industrial complex is a loose or hypothetical group of businesses, lobbyists, politicians and contractors, who believe the American government needs to spend more money on defence.
It is clear that they are both wealthy and successful artists who are idolized by the audience. The main storyline of the film is a flashback to previous episodes in the lives of the two adult actors. The conclusion from this study states that the tragic plot-structure of A Farewell to Arms is made all more effective through a continuous, dramatic juxtaposition of the opposing characters and incidents, themes and motives, which reveals through irony the dynamic tension the writer builds in the novel.
The conclusion from this study states that “A Farewell to Arms” is a great statement about the horrors of war. It is a tale of human endurance and fortitude. It depicts the development of the protagonist. A man without a clear vision comes to have a vision of love in life and at the end of the novel develops a stoical attitude to life.
This letter was addressed to the entire population of United States of America by George Washington. As soon as the letter was first published, other newspapers and magazines even published the letter in their issues. The letter was eventually published as a pamphlet with the purpose of warning the citizens of America of the various political threats that the citizens of America could have experienced and should have avoided.
Although Washington cautioned against “entangling alliances” in his farewell address, his successors have repeatedly deviated from that true course. Two such presidents were James Monroe and Theodore Roosevelt. Each sought to further aggrandize American security and control by venturing into previously uncharted territory through the assertion of presidential initiatives of a questionable nature.
With this new age of military might and respectful peace of which Eisenhower spoke, the man also warned of the responsibilities that came with such internal organization: in particular, the duty of the American government to protect its citizens, the role of technological advancement in the future of the country and the knowledge that must be shared with each American to ensure that no elite ruling group could form.
