To begin with, there are mainly three types of training program development theories such as identical elements, stimulus generalization, and cognitive theory each of which emphasizes on specific areas. Therefore, it is advisable for the Backwoods to follow most appropriate theories by taking the most attention needed areas into account. Previously, it was identified that effective delivery of customers’ orders is the main objective of the proposed training program. As discussed earlier, employees in the customer orders division need adequate technical skills because they are to deal with customer calls through a computer network system. The identical elements theory suggests that “training environment is identical to work environment” (Table 5.1). Under predictable and stable work environment features, this strategy works efficiently. It is obvious that the work performed by customer order division is predictable and of stable nature. Since there are no chances for future changes in work nature, the organization can effectively train its employees once this method gets implemented. For instance to some companies it might occur in recruiting, training and maintaining the best talent and optimizing assignment matches. The change in role may also involve assisting to introduce and retain the processes, organization and cultures most appropriate for teamwork and knowledge sharing across useful areas to exploit the talent potential.
The company operates in the South East region of UK with its expanded network of retail shops. Observably, the company advertises its products through leaflets, newspapers and via internet to reach to the ultimate customers. In the ten years tenure of its operations, the company has grown rapidly, which can be fundamentally related with its policy of providing products at quite a lower price.
This means that the losses of any one brand may be recovered through profits from others. Therefore, clearly the company has not put all its eggs in one basket and has diversified risks. Furthermore, this reflects a well thought out segmentation strategy whereby the company has developed different dairy brands for different customer segments, thereby catering to the unique preferences, tastes and needs of each.
Several decades before, simply efficient running of the organisation was considered enough for success; however, things have changed enormously since then. The ‘open systems’ approach of management raises organisational effectiveness to combat external environmental changes that emerge time to time.
