When an artist reaches deep into someone’s heart and draws that feeling that touches him or her more than any other thing in the universe at any time, then that is good music. According to Gaye, a song may be meant for one listener while at other times, it is meant for many listeners. If an artist’s song is listened to and the listener responds, then we can say that the song that was written is good. Artists should, therefore, consider listeners’ minds and use them as a source of inspiration while composing songs and finalizing their decisions (3&4).

Hart indicates that when putting a song together, the artist should be sure to put everything together and understand the components of the song as they are put together. They should also be able to put together and understand the components of a song as it is arranged.  The result of this is coming up with something catching that everyone will remember. The first theory of success of the songwriter is what makes a good song or music. All songs are not created the same; there are different types of songs.

This depends on the genre that the writer is using. Each has a specific sound, rhythms, instrumentation, and lyrics that are put together to make a piece of good music. Having knowledge of the genre to use is the first step towards making good music (1). Once the writer has put the lyrics in position, there is a need to arrange the rest of the pieces so that they fit together appropriately.  When going through the music, the songwriter should make sure that it is not just the lyrics that are moving but also the identification of other instruments are put together to support the song.

Creation of arrangements includes sets of instruments that denote low, high and medium keys to support the lyrics. Again, the significance of a song is seen when one is able to put together the right lyrics. The lyrics keep the song together and act as glue to the song.  It is good to look at the lyrics at different angles as one write and each angle can be used as one writes the lyrics.  For instance, one angle can consider thoughts or emotion behind the story while another angle can be telling a story using the lyrics.

In whatever angle one takes, he or she should make sure that he or she has a hook line, which is a memorable sentence that ties everything together. A song becomes effective when sound, motion and main points of the song are arranged and put together (Hart, 1).
