Biology is believed to play a great role in influencing the behavior of the male and female children. The male children are believed to have a surge of a hormone known as testosterone. This hormone is responsible for the aggression, learning, and preferences of the child. Males tend to behave in a different manner because of this hormone and have different clothing styles than their counterparts. Thus this hormone is responsible for the masculinity of the male counterparts. Women are exposed to a hormone known as estrogen and this hormone plays a role in developing the tastes for women.

The biological differences between men and women relate to the difference that they have in the brain. Studies point out that the female brain is manipulated in such a way that the females are more towards the feelings of empathy and exposure whereas the brain of males is manipulated in such a way that they are aggressive than their counterparts. These biological reasons form a basis for the change in the behavior and preferences of both the genders. As per the article by Blackwell, the decision regarding raising children in a genderless or bias free environment seems to be a good idea but it does not seem to be workable in the long run.

Children need to grow up within the social norms and face the stereotyping that is prevalent within the society. The practice of providing children with an environment where gender differences do not affect them is an impractical approach as the society may distort the child in the latter ages of life. The interactions with other children and exposure to media are the first and most effective means of this distortion. An environment where gender differences are discouraged is a good phenomenon as it will avoid any bias between the treatments of the children of either sex.
