Cognitive Appraisal: Response to Stress of Cognitive Appraisal: Response to Stress One can find himself in the state of stress anytime because of the ability of humans to provide stimulus response to the environment. Theories such as cognitive appraisal by Lazarus & Folkman can be helpful to understand human’s response to stress. There can be different factors that would make me responsive to the stress psychologically and physiologically. Considering the phenomenon of stress, there are couple of events that have recently stressed me in routine life.

My professor gave me a class activity task which I had to finish in given time period. As soon as got done with it, I was graded by my professor in the class following his grading standards. The end result of the activity task was not an A which made it quite stressful for me to believe that I can achieve a better grade. As a result, I made my own conclusion regarding my professor that he has better content to view which ultimately makes my work less interesting. Herein, it could be said comparison would rather make me stressed (Upton 2010).

The cognitive appraisal defines my view about the professor as negative on the primary stage because I believe that he would only grade something which is the best and not focus how creative each student have worked depending upon their respective abilities (Russell 1999). On the secondary level, cognitively appraising, I internally believe that I have the ability to write better in case I am aware of the content other students have written during the activity (external factors) (Barkway Sydney).
