Categories of Pedophiles Pedophilia is a form of psychosexual illness whereby a person is attracted to having sexual relations with children below the puberty age or any person who has not become an adult (Salter, 2003). Most pedophiles are associated with children molestation although not all have the intention of molesting children. Pedophilic behaviors are by excess testosterone hormone which caused weird sexual behaviors. Pedophiles are into four distinct groups: exclusive homosexual, exclusive heterosexual, non-exclusive homosexual and non-exclusive heterosexual. Exclusive vs. nonexclusive pedophiles The difference between these two forms is the actual form of sexual attraction (Salter, 2003). Exclusive pedophiles are precisely attracted to prepubescent children and do not have any kind of sexual attraction to adults. They are also called true pedophiles. They have no history of erotic interest in adults. On the other hand, non-exclusive pedophiles have sexual attraction to both adults and children. They have a characteristic of being sexually aroused by either a child or an adult. Cases of non-exclusive pedophiles are more frequent than those of exclusive pedophiles. Homosexual vs. heterosexual pedophiles Pedophiles can be classified based on the gender or sex that they prefer. The gender of the child that they are attracted to does not necessarily mean that they are attracted to the same sex in adults especially for non-exclusive pedophiles (Salter, 2003). A homosexual pedophile is sexually attracted to a child of the same gender with him/her. Heterosexual pedophiles are only attracted to children of the opposite sex. Heterosexual pedophiles are more common that homosexual pedophiles. Task 2: Typology of female serial killers The number of female serial killers is high in the modern day. The primary intentions of female serial murderers are money and material gain (Vito, 2006). Other rare causes could be seeking attention, urge for sex, and the need for power and personality disorders. Serial killers can be into nine major groups based on the intention of the murder. When the serial killer attacks a sick or vulnerable person, they are classified as angels of death (Vito, 2006). They can take roles of doctors, nurses or home aides. When such an action is done to a victim of below 13 years, it becomes a pedophilia case. Black widows kill their family members for lust of money. Such female serial killers can even kill children to take away their inheritance. Sexual predators are those serial killers who kill in order to have a chance of sexual intercourse or kill after sex. It is common in pedophilic women in the bid to avoid legal consequences. Avengers are those serial killers who kill in order to revenge (Vito, 2006). Women serial killers can also kill their partners in crime. Crime partners commit crimes of a sexual nature if their partners dominate over them. Partners could be children and in such a case the serial killing falls under pedophilia. Some serial killers kill with the aim of getting profits. In such a situation, the principal aim of the killer is to get resources, and they do not give into their conscience. Other killers do not have any explanations for their actions. They are as unexplained serial killers. Task 3: Importance of Psychological autopsy Psychological autopsy is as any form of an oral examination that is done to any person that is close to a diseased person. It’s done with the intention of knowing the state of mind of the deceased so that conclusion on whether the cause of death was suicide can be made. Psychological autopsy accesses factors such as behavior, feelings, relationships and thoughts of the deceased. It can also be as an unstructured clinical technique whereby a medical professional discerns the previous mental state of the deceased person. Psychological autopsy is important since it offers the family members of the deceased with a logical interpretation of the death. It makes them understand the tragic incidence and hence helps in healing them emotionally. Psychological autopsy can be as a guideline towards devising ways of avoiding occurrence of suicide incidences (Turvey, 2008). It can offer suggestions on preventing suicide in hospitals, homes, and jails. Psychological autopsy is also used to provide legal explanations on nature and causes of death. It can also be as a defense to people who are accused of causing other to commit suicide. Task 4: Importance of victim activities in profiling Criminal profiling is at discovering the characteristics of the offender so that that the causes of the crime can be identified (Turvey, 2008). Similarly, the characteristic of the victim can offer crucial information that can lead to identifying the person behind the crime. It is when many criminal acts are closely related or similar. Characteristic of the victim provides information as to why the criminal chose them and not anybody else. The characteristics of the victim must rhyme with the need or intention of the offender for any crime to happen. The characteristic of the victim offers information on why they were chosen and also explains the way of thinking of the offender (Turvey, 2008). The characteristic of the victim can also offer information on how a particular criminal acts. For example, if victims of certain crime belong to a certain race, the criminal investigators may conclude that the offender attacks racially. Such data can be used to trace the offender and possibly lead to his/her arrest. The place in which the victims were when an attack occurs can help in knowing how the criminal operates. For example, when similar rape cases occur in a night club, the investigators of crime can know that the offender operates in night clubs. Characteristics such as wealth of the victim can explain the reasons for murder occurring. The personal relationships and experiences of the victim can help filter the list of crime suspects. All these information is in criminal profiling and can help trace the criminal. It is, therefore, clear that activities and characteristics of the victim can be used to compose the criminal profile of a criminal. References Salter, A. C.
