The problem of addiction becomes even more complex with psychological problems that may accompany it making the life of the patient more miserable. It, therefore, calls for proper interventions which may involve contributions by the individuals, society, government, and medical fraternity in ensuring effective response. Owing to the demanding nature of treating alcohol addiction as well as economic considerations by patients it is therefore prudent to come with programs that ensure proper healing while at the same addressing the affordability question.

Outpatient programs for alcohol addiction are therefore one of the most suitable solutions to the complex nature of addiction.Rehab plans for alcoholism are available in two major forms which are residential medication and outpatient treatment. The expected outcome for patients may be the same but significant differences can observe in terms of how either of the programs delivers treatment. In outpatient programs the addicts are expected to attend their treatment plans and return home for a period when they are considered sober.

Outpatient programs are most suitable to persons are important to their families such as parents, and those individuals whose addiction is not life-threatening this program may not include medical care and as such those persons experiencing withdrawal when they try stopping drinking are not supposed to go for this option when seeking treatment for addiction. The treatment option to apply for a certain patient may depend on a myriad of factors; conditions are never the same and as such no particular approach can be said to be the best in treating the problem.

It is therefore very important ones particular expected outcomes are determined before selecting the treatment approach to employ and the economic situation of the patient should also be put into consideration. Treating one particular issue before the other for instance has been found not to effectively address the problem of alcoholism and it, therefore, recommended that in cases of dual diagnosis, all the conditions are addressed simultaneously.
