Extract of sample "Sex and the Sexual Act"

Human Sexuality Journal Sex and the sexual act were common in the media while growing up. My parents were not vocal about sex or any sexual act. I grew up not knowing anything about sex or where babies came from until I was eight years old. I learnt about sex and the sexual activities from my older peers who were discussing pornography and sexual organs. My mum had a set of pornographic movies she used to watch alone while I was growing up. Having an older sibling, we decided to check and see what my mum was waiting while locked up in her room. I experienced the whole sexual act from the film. I learnt about the sexual organs and how people came to have sex. I did not understand why they were doing it or if it was good or bad. I grew up knowing sex is an evil act, and I should never engage in the act until I was eighteen years. None of my parents cared to explain the reason it was a forbidden act. The fact that I did not know anything about sex can be because I came from a conservative family who were shy to talk about sex. My teachers taught us about sex and understanding our bodies. There was a lesson on sex every week as the syllabus required. Sexual attraction to boys started when I was twelve years old, but I did not engage in any sexual activity until I was eighteen years old. I figured out I was at the right age to engage in sex since my mum always warned me in engaging in the activity before I was old enough and ready. My religious family has the belief of no sex before marriage. Journal 2: Perspective on Sexuality Chapter 1 Sexuality has a lot of different dimensions that affect our day to day lives. It is important to understand ones body and their sexuality to be able to enjoy sex. Understanding of ones body takes different steps, and it requires time to know what kind of sexual activity ensures maximum pleasure. Interpersonal sexual skills and integrity are necessary as it is part of sexual intelligence (Crooks and Baur 3). I have learnt to study and understand my body and what kind of activity is important in ensuring maximum sexual pleasure. Masturbation is one of the ways to understand the body and to be good during sexual activities. The womans body is complicated but once one gets to read it correctly and then there is a guarantee of having an orgasm during sex. The clitorises are the basic point of sexual pleasure in a woman, but there are also other regions in the human body that contribute to an orgasm. The intimate knowledge a person acquires depends on the kind of knowledge they have about sexuality. If one is having a problem with their sexuality and understanding their bodies, it is important to have a class on sexual intelligence (Crooks and Baur 5). I have gone through a lot of sexual experiences where I did not experience orgasms or pleasure. I did not understand how a person was able to orgasm or what it felt like to orgasm. There are a lot of controversy and diversity that results from sexuality. My experiences vary from one person to another but having sex with a female proved to be enjoyable, and orgasms were guaranteed compared to having a sexual experience with men. I have come to learn it is because I initially did not understand my sexuality going into any sexual relationship. The sex is much better, and I know what to do to get an orgasm during sexual intercourse with a man. The art of clitoris rubbing helps a lot in experiencing orgasms. Journal 3: Sex Research; Methods and Problems The goal of the study of sex; sexology, is to test assumptions that are made up about sex. There are three assumptions that are tested scientifically to prove the assumptions right. There is the assumption that drinking makes sex better and more enjoyable, men who have an addiction to pornography are violent towards women, and vaginal insertion orgasms are better than clitoral stimulation orgasms (Crooks and Baur 30). I have never experienced an abusive man before, so it’s hard to say that men who have an addiction to pornography are violent. I have had a boyfriend who liked pornographic films and magazines who was loving and never was he violent to me. The idea of pornography was so he could get better at his game and give me sexual satisfaction. He was wrong on that point as I did not like anything he did that he saw on the films. They were too aggressive. Sex when someone is a little intoxicated guarantees orgasms and is sweet. There is a big difference between having sex while sober and doing it while under the influence of alcohol. The assumptions I can personally say is right of this part. The other hypothesis, vaginal penetration gives more pleasure than clitoral stimulation can be right (Crooks and Baur 33). Most of my best orgasms come from rubbing the clitoris. One, however, experiences a massive orgasm when they have a penetration just before an orgasm. The penetration stimulates the vagina for maximum pleasure while still rubbing the clitoris. The clitoris, however, is the source of and a guarantee of sexual orgasm for a woman. Journal 4: Female Sexual Anatomy and Physiology The female sexual anatomy consists of different parts. There is the vulva, breasts, internal parts, menstruation among others. Many women have the knowledge of their bodies and their sexual parts (Crooks and Baur 53). The problem is many of the women do not understand what to do with their sexual parts to ensure they enjoy sex. The vulva is the most common sexual anatomy of the female. Most of the women understand this part correctly and thus they do not see the need to explore other parts to experience pleasure. It is important for a woman to receive knowledge of their sexual being in order to have sexual intelligence. The vulva consists of the physical and the internal parts of a female sexual organ that help in ensuring she has pleasure during sex. The vulva has the clitoris and the G-spot that ensures maximum pleasure during sex. The vulva is however not the only sexual organ as we have the breasts. The breasts provide stimulation that makes a person desire to participate in a sexual act. I have come to understand the pleasure that come from rubbing my breasts and also my feet during stimulation (Crooks and Baur 55). Masturbation has helped me understand how I like my breasts and rub feet for sexual pleasure. The sexual knowledge has been helpful as it is easier for my partner, and I enjoy sex. He does not have to go to great lengths for my sexual pleasure as I let him know how to make me orgasm. Journal 5: Love and Communication in intimate relationships Communication is the key when one wants to achieve a healthy and long close relationship. Two people must come to an understanding in order for them to enjoy sex and the pleasures that come from love in a relationship (Crooks and Baur 193). Attachments that grow from two people having an intimate relationship is important as it indicates the level of love between the two people. The book "Our sexuality crooks" suggests that love is crooked and complicated. The question what is love has been a debate for many years as different people preserve love in various ways. Sexual love, which I understand, is when a partner puts your needs first and ensures you are sexually satisfied. My partner and I have an excellent way of communication as we are not shy to discuss our sexual preference. We share a lot of experiences, and it has helped in ensuring our relationship grows stronger. The attachment helps in appreciating your partner and what they are willing to sacrifice for you to be sexually happy (Crooks and Baur 195). Loving someone is a choice, and it is giving your vulnerable heart and trusting the person not to break it. Love and sexual attachments result in jealousy in a lot of ways. I am particularly jealous when I see another female laughing and giggling to my partners jokes. It is a natural feeling that comes from sharing your time with someone and loving each and every part of them. Love is a beautiful thing. Journal 6 The current sexual norms have significantly changed as people are now free to address sex and sexual preference freely. The gay people and transgender are free to express their sexual orientations than it was several years ago. People were not comfortable some time back to show their sexual preference as the community was very judgmental. My parents were very conservative and shy to talk to me about sex. Todays society, however, makes it easier for the parents to open up to their children and talk about sex. The freedom that the society has given people to express themselves sexually now is very healthy and productive in ensuring people decide what they want to be without getting judged. The downside of todays society norms is that the children get exposed to sex and sexual acts when they are still very young. The kids lose their virginity at a very early age that is not healthy for them. The class has helped me a great deal in understanding the female anatomy and the kind of sexual pleasures I can get from the different parts of my body. The intimate relationship between the two of us has improved a great deal from taking this class. I have come to understand the gays and transgender people, and I am less judgmental about them and the kind of life they have decided to live. Those people are free to being gay or transgender, and I can now embrace them. It is an important class that I would recommend to everyone of legal age. Works Cited Crooks, Robert and Baur, Karla.
