My Biggest Fear Situation Fear is an emotion when a person’s body feels outside distraction and responds to it aggressively and enormously. The feeling of fear changes emotional condition of a person and leads to certain physical changes. The kind of fear I remember clearly is probably one of the most common for people, because it was fear of public speaking. I was supposed to deliver a speech in front of the entire classroom in another five minutes. It was dreadful for me because a thought of me speaking in front of the audience made my knees shake.

I was sitting at my desk holding a piece of paper in my hands that were sweaty and were constantly shaking. I also felt extremely hot and extremely needed a gulp of fresh air. Moreover, I also felt certain weakness throughout the entire body and it seemed that I would not be able even to stand up when my turn would come. Furthermore, I started blushing so my face and low neck became red and it was very noticeable. The only thing I was thinking about was the text of my speech and I was trying to repeat it word by word learning each sentence by heart, instead of remembering general tenor.

When my turn came, I stood up and felt like my heart was beating so intensively that it seemed like it was going to whip out of my chest. While I was going to the spot where I was supposed to deliver the speech, my mind started to panic, and I was unable to remember a word from my speech. Eventually, when I stepped on the spot, I even forgot the topic of my speech. I also noticed that when I looked at the audience, I realized that I was having a darkened vision, so I could not even see anyone who was sitting in the classroom.

I felt so scared delivering the speech that I could not behave adequately. I could not even smile or look at anyone while I was speaking. My psychological condition was extremely irritated, because I was trying to concentrate on what I was talking about; however, the fear I felt made my thoughts mixed up. Moreover, the text of the speech that I was trying to hold in my mind mixed with thoughts of what those people in the audience were thinking about me, whether my appearance or my speech were good in general.

Thus, because of all the doubts and fear, I also felt ashamed and embarrassed. I did not think this would happen to mebecause I was so well prepared. Even right before the day I had to speak in front of the audience, I did have thoughts of messing up during my speech, and I had butterflies in my stomach every time I was thinking about speaking in front of other people; however, I did not picture all of these things would happen to me. I also practiced in front of my family and friends, and I told myself that I could do this, but when it was time for me to speak, that was the time when I really was unable to control my thoughts and feelings.

Furthermore, when my speech ended, I did not know what to do because I was almost about to to cry because I did so horrible; however, I managed to smile because it was over. I immediately called my friend and cried to her. I kept mentioning to her how I had worked so hard in order to do well, but at the same time, I felt very relieved because my speech was over. Besides, I am uncomfortable speaking in front of the audience till this day, but I can say that I have definitely improved my oratorical skills and emotions control.
