A movie review Movies review “Chicken Run” and “Logans Run changed sci-fi blockbusters forever.” By Lord and Park, and Anderson respectively I watched these two movies not so long ago and would like to offer my opinion. My opinion will be in respect to their relevance in political science. In the movie “Chicken Run,” no chicken is supposed to break away from Tweedy’s farm but one chicken (Ginger) opts to take up the challenge. Ginger desires for a better life for herself together with her friends despite all of them being captives at the Tweedys Egg Farm. Following this, she attempts to break out only end up in a life of solitude. However, time is running out for her and her friends as the wicked Mrs. Tweedy devises a new way to feather their nest. Rather than collecting the eggs, Mrs. Tweedy decides to turn the fowls into pies! With the assistance of Rocky Rhodes, who is a new arrival and a self-professed Lone Free Ranger, Ginger finally comes up with a brilliant and heroic escape arrangement that frees them all in (Clifford, 2000). The film “Logans Run changed sci-fi blockbusters forever” borrows widely from the cult novel written by William Nolan and George Johnson. The film was set in 2274, a time when the leftovers of humanity will be living in a world that is computer-controlled, conserved, domed city following an apocalypse. The 23rd-century society as presented in this film is pretty much a utopia. People have to do shopping, take medication and have sex to their satisfaction as the computers take care of reproduction and child rearing. On turning 30, one is perceived as irrelevant and hence one should try his/her luck in a bizarre ritual known as The Carousel. In this ritual, citizens dressed in masks and robes hover upwards and are vaporized in the believe that they are being renewed. This research paper is an analysis of the contribution of a pair of films used as course work training in political science. The paper seeks to establish if the two films selected should be included into the constrained list of political study (Tunner, 2014). “Chicken’s Hen” The co-directors and co-producers Nick Park and Peter Lord, have created prominence in the art of animation. The movie is a caricature of and homage to the great prison break movies we have watched. Park/Lord in one of the movies recounts the “Great Escape.” This experience is similar to Ginger’s whose attempts to get out were thwarted by "goons," However, the indefatigable Ginger keeps on trying until Rocky comes to her rescue and hope for escaping into the imaginary Paradise Farm is invigorated. Asked to give my opinion on the movie’s level of perfection, I would categorically say that this film is not a perfect one. The movie rejuvenates at its 25-minute mark after the story winding down soon after its beginning. The turn of events is motivated by Ginger’s plan for escape and Rocky’s support. The chickens are, however, faced by a more onerous destiny apart from being prisoners. The importance of the escape is realized when their real fate of becoming the main ingredient of Mrs. Tweedys Homemade Chicken Pies is unmasked. This movie is characterized by high drama, action, and comedy until the end (Clifford, 2000). The incredible thing regarding "Chicken Run" is that it puts humor in a number of subjects such as genocide, which in relation to chicken is taken as chicken-oxide and imprisonment. There are adequate fun and humor to appeal the audience. A plethora of intellect and wit is also displayed, and these keep adult population keen and entertained. The vocal characters together with the images are first class. The actors that is, Gibson, Sawalha and Ginger are equal to the task Mrs. Tweedy uses the voice of Miranda Richardson as Jane Horrocks "Little Voice," and Bubble in "Ab Fab" give voice to the simple and lovable Babs. Actor Lynn Ferguson acts as a super-intelligent hen that is the engineering brains behind the escape. Benjamin Whitrow acts as the aged rooster Fowler, Tony Haygarth as the dumb although observant Mr. Tweedy. Timothy Spall and Phil Daniels act as rat procurers Nick and Fetcher. They together contribute to the success of the movie (Clifford, 2000). The production more so to those who are used to animation is a surprise to behold. Within a few minutes after the beginning of the film, the audience is overwhelmed by the world formed by the acting folks. For instance, every chicken being presented as an individual character with unique looks and personality is amazing. The current computer generated imagery (CGI) is characteristic of sheer artistry. Stop motion animations have been in existence ever since the early days. "Chicken Run" is a movie that deserves being watched by the entire family as it can appeal everyone. Ginger (Julia Sawalha) is a creative hen amongst the oppressed denizens of Tweedys Chicken Farm, where Mr. Tweedy (Tony Haygarth) distrustfully patrols the territories of his chicken huts that are surrounded by barbed wire together with guard dogs. Ginger desires a life of independence, past the hills, which she can see from the hut’s rooftop, but even if she is able to escape alone, she is concerned with her friends at the farm and thus she refuses to leave (Clifford, 2000). Once a hen fails to lay eggs, the ruthlessly Mrs. Tweedy (Miranda Richardson) takes her to the chopping block. It is even more devastating when a chicken products van comes to deliver a strange piece of equipment, and then it is hidden in the store. As Mr. Tweedys plots to get it to get it to work, Ginger is taking her time to planning their escape. A redeemer finally comes in the shape of an arrogant Yank rooster, Rocky, which demands the freedom of the captives (Khanna, 2014). Numerous different chickens were created for the purposes of this film. A number of them gave excellent support to Ginger and Rocky. Janes Horrocks ("Little Voice") and Babs who is one "Absolutely Fabulous" vet, a pleasantly dim bird with a knitting tendency. Lynn Ferguson, who is a Scottish stage actress and a stand-up comedienne takes the place of Mac, the bespeckled engineering who avails an amazing foil for Rockys "Brave heart" moments. Benjamin Whitrow is Fowler, the aged RAF vet, and the house rooster who resent Rockys arrival. There are just two humans the Tweedy. Mrs. Tweedy is a crone who hates her husbands failure to offer anything better than their desolate farm. Mr. Tweedy is blamed for losing his mind by suggesting that their chickens are scheming. There are also two rats, Nick “ Timothy Spall, Loves Labor’s lost" and “Fetcher Phil Daniels, " Bad Behavior" who provide humor. “Chicken Run" is a very amusing accomplishment. Congratulations to the group of filmmakers who using the stop-motion technique brought this charming movie to the screen (Khanna, 2014). “Logans Run changed sci-fi blockbusters forever” Logan 5 comes in as the films hero he is a Sandman, a self-indulgent 26-year-old and a cop. He is given the responsibility of tracking down and "terminating" Runners. He then meets Jessica (Jenny Agutter) who is a real beauty during a Sex Teleport he realizes the existence of a resistance association, with its members enthusiastically believing in the existence of a place outside the normal world known as a “Sanctuary". Upon reporting his findings, he was tasked with finding out more about the resistance and destroying it. However, to his shock, the computer adjusted his clock forward by four years, implying that his time has expired unless he becomes a Runner (Tunner, 2014). With the help of Jessica Logan manages to make a thrilling getaway from the Dome, however they were not ready for what they later found outside the city and making their perception of the world is irreversible. This was after they came across the Worlds Oldest Man (Peter Ustinov). This was worsened when Logan’s’ best friend Francis, who pursued them. Francis was Logan’s former Sandman colleague whom they thought had gone deeper with the intention of killing Logan (Tunner, 2014). The exceptional effects are inquisitive combination of incredible and terrible. The shot that remains is a dissolving body of a lately finished Runner, correctly shot with a chain of camera dissolves. It is authentically dreadful, much gratitude to the offhandedness of it. The body is usually coated with an acid and thus vanishes, in what appears to be the standard working clean-up process. Similarly impressive are the stunning model shot of the city, inclusive of its moving monorail bubble vehicles: they are plainly shot models that are so elaborate and fantastic that they will make one longing for the cinemas pre-CGI days. Sooner, we see Logan and Jessica escaping via the "Love Shop" in an exciting instant where the two finally find themselves inside a compartment flowing with water. Finally, they encountered what would be termed as the films oddest occurrence, the duo get into a frozen subversive grotto and come across a talking robot Box (Roscoe Lee Browne), then continue to illustrate his frozen nude escapes and makes attempts to cover them to his assortment. A love shop is an orgiastic channel of pleasure, with lots of dimly-lit cavorting naked extras. On nudity, it would be impolite to reject that the movie’s general raciness has contributed to its enduring appeal. Despite all those naked extras as well as a gutter’s brief nakedness in the grotto, the film is astonishingly risqué, mostly in today’s apparently sexless teen dystopia equivalents. The film is not convenient for children and teenagers. The movie received a PG rating in US and an A in the UK. If anything, the sexual politics as portrayed in Logans Run are more splendid than they initially appeared. In spite of the popularity of casual sex in the Dome society, a great deal is made of Jessicas preliminary refusal and consequent choice to engage in sex with Logan, which happens in the films renowned nude swimming scene. Similar to a good number of dystopian movies, Logans Run uses its plot to give remarks on the modern society. It is important to note that the film has its imperfections. For example, there are instances where there are no core plot facts on how the Ustinovs family went through the happenings on earth or the reason behind the computer system evolving and its need to kill everybody at 30 years. The interesting bit is that the initial novel has 21 years as the maximum age as compared to 30 years, and the Worlds Oldest Man is only 36 years. Again, the studios did not think the film would work under the guidance of teenage leads a time when this was seemingly a default system. I would grade this movie as B. Conclusion In conclusion, the two movies should be included in the list of famous films political science course. The reason behind my proposal is that both films can be used to enhance the students’ understanding of histories, ideas, concepts, and theories (VAO NEWS, 2014). For example, the two movies aids in understanding concepts such as utopia and dystopia. The Dome in the movie Logan’s run is a utopia world similar to the world imagined by Ginger outside Tweedy’s farm. In addition, both films can be used to illustrate the changes that are brought about by technology, as well as the connection between technology and utopia. In the film “Chicken Run,” technology is used to design the animations that work out perfectly well, and the contribution can be termed as positive.
