This dissertation will focus generally on the health sector and specifically on the women employed in the sector. Chapter One has a presentation of the introductory part of the dissertation, the background information about the study and its objectives, the statement of the problem, the purpose of the study, the research design and questions, and the significance of the study. This chapter will also provide the definitions of terms, and outlines the limitations and delimitations of the study. Cheese, Thomas, and Craig (1999) have said that “Given the strategic importance of talent and the ability to create and develop it, nurturing and developing talent has to become everyone’s responsibility in every organization” (p. 46). Employees are the foundation of every organization.

Recruitment of skilled and qualified male as well as female employees is a vital strategy for a company leader to function successfully. The region of the Middle East is of interest to many people around the world like investors, companies, economists, and governments (Bahry & Marr, 2005). This interest is due to the fact that the 21st century has brought about many dynamic changes in the economic and social development as well as development in the Middle Eastern countries. The markets are opening up to a diverse set of talented and skilled people within and across the regions.

The opportunities created as a result of the economic growth are not without threat as it faces many challenges relating to the HR manager. The doors of employment in the Middle Eastern region are gradually opening up to the female workforce. In the past, women have been associated with household responsibilities such as nutrition, health care and, other daily requisites (Bahry & Marr, 2005).
