Conservative Nostalgia in the United States of America Introduction In the United States of America there are two groups of individual, those liberals and the conservatives (Maybury 34). The liberals are individuals who have full trust in the government doings and activity so as to acquire and get equal chances and opportunities for all citizens. They believe and assume that it’s the government responsibility and role to raise or come up with social ills and to guard the rights of citizens and civil liberty. They hugely assume and believe that the government should solve all problem and challenges that can arise through its own policies. On the other hand, conservatives hugely assume and believe that every individual should be responsible; there should be free markets, limited or minimum government intervention, a rigid and firm national defence personal liberty and those ancient American values (Lipsman 129). They more emphasize that the function of the government is to grant the individuals or citizens the freedom to fulfil their own goals and ambitions. The major points that are going to be discussed in this essay are the arguments that conservatives usually want and discuss whether if there reasons are valid and try to compare them with government policies and the liberals’ arguments. Literature Review Most authors have come up with different ideas and opinion to justify the differences between the conservatives and the liberals and this essay is focused to bring out the arguments between the two sides, firstly, according to Lipsam, conservatives are usually focused on preventing the negative results and are better organized whereas liberals concentrate on being creative and they are open minded and usually concentrate on positive outcomes (Lipsman 37). Generally, Anderson believes that conservatives have very strong motivation compared to liberals who focuses on preservation of purity and cleanliness this is evidenced where by conservatives are quicker, efficient hence letting up their ideologies, whereas liberals are effortful and deliberate hence there difference in ideologies too(Anderson 10). In this essay we are going to discuss some of the factors that bring conflict between the three groups include: Conservatives argument to reduce Taxes: The conservatives here have claimed that reducing the tax rate to the Americans and the state having a limited power will increase and raise the standards of living for all the citizens. It they reduce taxes they will have created a more incentive for individuals to save more, increase investment, it will also increase people working effort through incentives so as to make extra income, it will also encourage people to participate more in entrepreneurial activities (Lipsman 64). They believe that if someone earns his own money he will spend it more effectively and efficiently than the government expenditure. Security policies in the state should be changed: The United States of America has experienced a big financial trouble when it comes to issues of social security systems since it’s not sustainable. Some significant changes in the current system are required as its facing a downfall (Maybury 122). This will be a great challenge to individuals in the states. This can be achieved by contacting out to private firms or allowing sole individuals to take care of their own saving. Although presently social security usually offer safety and protection to those poor and less fortunate citizens in united states hence altering such systems will cause a reduction in the benefits offered by the state hence more American civilians suffering more. This hence will be difficult to be adopted by the government (Lipsman 3). Conservative advice on how to handle terrorism: This is also another challenge facing the United States of America. For the past ten years Islamic terrorist have launched attacks repeatedly on American citizens both locally and internationally (Anderson 122). Great efforts should be taken to hunt down and stop terrorism and this can be achieved by the use of military force and through gathering information by the intelligence bodies. Terrorist captured should always be treated as a big threat and enemy of the nation and should always be judged in the military court of law. Depending on military force to defeat invaders and terrorists leads to hatred among nations or religion hence increasing more instances of terrorism. Therefore the government also refuted opinions by the conservatives and handled terrorists by trying them in the civilian court. How the government should express religion: Its outlined in the constitution clearly of America that the state cannot form or come up with a church or a denomination but this does not mean that the government can be stopped in acknowledging God in given institution like state owned school and related institutions and building (Maybury 57). The conservers furthermore argue that symbols representing Christian heritage for example the ten commandments should be hanged or displayed in state building, government spaces and should not be hidden from the public. The state is not allowed to temper with the religion and its freedom. But this nor realistic as in the bill of rights it allows the government to separate itself from the church. Conservative take on how the government should acquire Private owned property: Currently, the state has all the right and force to acquire or use private property where by it will be required to compensate the owner before acquiring it back if there is need to accomplish a public need for example building of a state healthcare facility in a given area (Anderson 164). In contrast, the conservatives argue that the state should respect private owned property; they claim that seizing of such private property with compensation is wrong; they insist that the state should not use such property for compensation. In reality this fact brought out by conservatives is not realistic. Issue on how legal and illegal Immigrants and refugees should be treated: The state enforces legal immigration and concur with the conservatives that those who enter in the country illegally don’t have equal rights as those who followed the right and required procedure of entering the country for example education, social security, financial help, and welfare. The type Health care system to be adopted by the state: The current system in America uses or supports controlled healthcare system and free or reduced cost healthcare. Many citizens in states who cannot afford standardized healthcare facilities cannot be deprived of the opportunity to use these facilities as each American citizen got a right to affordable healthcare irrespective of ability to pay (Lakoff, 72). Therefore this creates a conflict with the conservatives’ arguments to introduce high competitive free market healthcare system and that all healthcare systems to remain privatized. The stand on same sex relationship and marriage: According to defence of marriage act passed in nineteen years ago doesn’t allow same sex marriage for example lesbians, gay transgender individuals and bisexuals is not recognised by the state (Anderson 89). They conservative also agree with the issue that marriage should be a union of individuals that is one man and one woman. They further claim that same sex relationships is against religious beliefs and morals of Christians, Jews and Muslims who belief in opposite sex marriage. But recently in states its legalizing same sex religion since it will be infringing the rights and they are allowing such marriages (Lakoff 14). Should America dissolve its agreement with the united nation: The United States got legal obligation and moral obligation to fund and support the united nation since it enhances peace and human rights. It usually shares out its national interests to the world for the better of the global community. It usually partners with the united nation in peace keeping mission matters since it doesn’t act as a sovereign nation. The conservatives fill United Nations has failed to promote peace and human rights in different member state (Maybury 48). Information collection Since the whole essay will revolve around politics it will information will be collected through the public interviews and questionnaires, this involves oral questions and oral interviews. Use of media sources like newspapers (daily conservative) will be used to get the information needed. Other secondary sources of information like scholarly works that is books and written will be used to gather information about the past. Conclusion Although the majority of American support conservatives from the previous studies the government has not adopted all their policies as majorly they do not favour equality among all citizens like the poor and the less fortunate ad they appear more rigid. They usually try to contradict each other in their opinion although in this essay or project we shall base mostly on conservatives. Work Cited Anderson, Brian C.
