CEO charity shame” Press ment to the emergent allegations by the Burnley Kids in Care and the general community of delayed payment of the charity funds, the Club’s Chief Executive will release the following statement. “Following the end of the financial year and the consequent external audit of Burnley Kids in Care’s financial books, it is eminent that the charity money raised by the CEO of Burnley FC upon participating in the London Marathon did not reflect in the charities end of year accounts.

We have established that the CEO is on holiday and through video conferencing, he claims that the delay was because of technical difficulties, time constraints, and change of government policies on charitable funds. We however established internal and external investigations to get an amicable understanding of this issue. Nevertheless, we would like to assert that it was the CEO’s absolute responsibility to ensure timely transmission of such monies to the relevant accounts. As such, the CEO’s behavior does not reflect the position or intention of the entire Club and we should thus understand the distinction between the Club and the CEO.

We therefore ascertain that the Club values and respects its relationship with local community. As such, in reaffirming our commitment to corporate social responsibility the club will donate the promised sum of £8,000 to Burnley Kids in Care that the CEO will have to reimburse upon the completion of the investigations and his return from abroad. Moreover, twelve of our most active members will visit the charity next weekend for motivational talks and games. We look forward to your authorization.

We can however render no other information to this issue as we await the completion of the investigations and the return of the CEO. Most assuredly, we appreciate the management and the commitment of Burnley Kids in Care to the local community as we strive to attain our corporate social responsibility objectives. More information will follow in due time.”
