Summary In the article d “Savage Inequalities: Children In US Schools” the Jonathan Kozol talks about his visit to public schools He first visited school 261 which is located within a very old roller skating rink and states that the children over there seemed to be forced to attend school. He then visited school 79 and state that the issue that was faced by the school was that it had more children admitted as compared to the number of children it could manage. His next visit was to school 24 and states that this public school was much better in comparison to other two schools and that was because it was heavily funded and the reason due to which it was heavily funded was that the property prices around the area were quite high.

The author claims that the amounts of funds that are provided to a particular school are dependent on the value of property around them. The author states that schools located in low priced property areas are allotted $6000/student and schools located in high price property areas are allotted nearly $11000/student and in some instance the funds are much higher. Due to this disparity in the funds being allotted to schools, the schools that receive fewer funds have buildings that are wearing out.

The children who go to such schools mostly belong to the African American background. The problem is that due to lack of funds being allotted to these schools, the quality of education being provided to the students of these schools is even quite low.
