My Family A family is a social construction that has various socialization unit and perspective on basis of gender, roles, and capitalism (Newman & Grauerholz, 2002). It is a micro level society, which is the basic component of the large world society. A family consists of different persons who have an intimate or personal relation with each other. In a different dimension, people with the same interest can come together to form a functional unit and draw policies that distinguish them as a family. Mine is a nuclear family, which has strong Christian roots and practice of conjugal union between mom and dad who have obliged to live together for the rest of their lives. The prime function of family being reproduction and procreation has given leeway for the production of two dudes and one girl who comprise our family. In our family, we have social roles undertaken by the different personnel, whose execution is on sex basis. Father for instance is the head of the family. The existence of children and mother has given him control over the whole unit and the source of some very important decision in the family some of which are observed with no question. The father is the sole provider of food, labor power, and protection. Mother who is also a bread winner has a major role of providing child care upon the husband`s sexual services. Mother establishes a strong relation bond within the family setting and raises funds for the basic children requirement. The hierarchy within a family setting is strictly observed by applying sociology in the micro level (Newman & Grauerholz, 2002). This is due to special pillars, which keep the family going. First, through socialization, there is of creation shared believes and ideals that follow some norms of the micro society. For instance, we share our meals in a round table, which we also utilize as the discussion time and happily sit to watch television together. The segregation of each member having their own room has eliminated typical interactions, hence, cementing the rapport within the family. The policies that affect the functioning of the family as a basic unit are considered, and each member is allowed to air out his views at the table discussion. During such house conferences, father keeps the order and enforces some rules that govern the smooth run; hence, a successful conclusion is realized. Each member is given an equal chance, and their opinion accorded with all due respect. Another core pillar to the family progress is the vocational summer tours, which solely affect each member of the family. Before such an excursion, each member is fully involved in order to decide the place of interest. Although the answers provided could be surprisingly many, they form the basis of planning hence no one can complain because they feel fully as part of the decision-making process. This applied sociology method of opinion analysis has marginally improved the communication system within our family. Despite all the smooth run, there have been challenges in the family that have from time to time conflicted the smooth ongoing. The turmoil has been resulting from work where father is very loaded. He at some instances spends most of his time at work and even carries some work with him at home. This leaves him with very little time for personal life, that of family, hobbies, and relaxation. At these times mother feels that the job has taken him from her and that he is not offering enough time for her in favor of his job. At some instances, there develops variation in amongst family members due to different viewpoints of an opinion. The problem arises when each one is filled by ego and wishes their opinion be considered first. At this point, the cohesive rational thinking eludes and conflict wins leading everyone to be a loser. These conflicts have been affecting the members differently, the most adversely affected being mother because she has to share in each conflict. However, conflicts are not always negative; some do have positive effect to our family cohesion. Whenever our family members cannot get along, we advocate for conflict resolution services. This has seen our family not have its conflicts get out of window or let the matter out of hand leading to long term effects on the family. In order to resolve these problems, the first step has been to identify the ultimate cause of the conflict. After the cause is known, father then leads a session where each is allowed to give a contribution. This actually is not a time for discussions but a venting session where expressions and personal feelings are heard and analyzed in the resolution center. At times when we need a neutral ground so that there could be no biasness in the decision-making, we call a therapist officer to help us land to a conclusion. After such a resolution, the family unity is embraced more, and each gets to feel that their grievances have been addressed. Stress is a common figure in a family setting. Its identified cause is the perception and attitudes, and how we react towards different phenomenon. Some common life experiences more often than not cause stresses though they are positive in nature. Some common sources of stress in our family are unsettled bills, the many household chores, and or parental conflicts. Stress, whether in an individual or at family level can be managed in most cases. To manage stress, we hold frequent family discussions where we identify the stressor and talk more about it in pursuit to find an answer. In the family, we ensure that each individual’s stressor is given maximum attention inconsiderate of its magnitude from phenotypic analysis. We look for possible solution without raising blame over anyone. Just as Newman & Grauerholz (2002) denotes, our family, like any other has as many needs as the number of heads in the family. The three main components of needs i.e. physical, emotional, and spiritual needs also apply in our family. We have been undergoing hardships from time to time due to constraints in our family. The major problem that has ever hit our family was a financial constrain caused by my hailing younger brother Daichandt. The twelve-year-old boy was diagnosed and found to have a kidney failure so he was to undergo a kidney transplanted. The cost was staggering for the family, as insurance would not cover it all. Spirituality promotes a healthier living in a family and has been proven to reduce depression and other medical complications. The sense of interconnectedness to a supernatural power has influence in our daily living. Our family has a strong Christian foundation and has good rounding religion, which introduces us to the strong and honoring commitment. Spirituality has taught us to reach the suffering and those in pain and accept all judgment with all respect. The religion nature of our family has imparted very important virtues and exempted us from extremist behaviors. The spiritual practices helps our families cope with skills, foster feelings of optimism, and positively influence immune of the family members. The spiritual component in has made us make good progress as a family apart from eliminating anxiety, depression, and cases of blood pressure. We are trying in our capacity to introduce spiritual teaching in the curricula of schools. We would like to enlighten people on the relation between health, spiritually and science and focus on the connection of the three for validity and workability. Analytically, I can describe my family as a healthy one. There are the concrete pillars that form the basis of this healthy family. The most basic reason for this healthy living on balanced. My mom ensures that whenever we sit for a meal it comprises all the important components of diet. Though it might be a hard task to achieve this everyday’s task, we follow the simple steps that a busy family can take to increase the number of healthy food and drink habits every day. Another simple but most important practice that we do frequently possible is to drink lots of water. Another very important pillar is an everyday play for our family. As a family, what we usually believe is that everyone is fit for exercise as it makes one healthy, and it is fun to exercise. Exercise is one of the key ways of avoiding chronic conditions and a good way to stay close to family members. Another key pillar accountable for our healthy living is the constant excursions we make preferably during each vacation. Going out with family members has been one of the most hilarious periods as it brings all the members together and develops a greater sense of interdependence. Further still, good sleep is another pillar encompassing a healthy living. Sleep has both long term and short-term effects on persons thus mom ensures that the two younger siblings go to bed on time. Sleep maintains high immunity, and effectiveness in performance of different body organs. After a comprehensive research, it was true that lack of enough sleep could cause moodiness and cognitive difficulties. A strong family gives support and sense of belonging and helps one eliminate everyday’s stress. A strong family is one whose base is a solid ground. In order to have a strong family every, members should be willing to cooperate and play their part perfectly. For a healthy family, each member must take familial commitment very serious and be ready to help each other in difficulties. For a healthy family, each member shows appreciation to each other’s work, and recognizes their dignity. Appreciating one’s effort forms the main source for self-esteem thus parents should encourage their children to observe courtesy to build their self-esteem. A strong family spends most of its time conversing. This makes family members connected and feel free to exchange ideas hence become good problem solvers. A strong family has the same religious belief. This creates a stronger bond between the family members as well as a framework of love and cohesion. For a strong family, the members should develop plan of the events indented to be undertaken. Each member should be involved in the planning process as this strengthens the family still.
