Affordable care actIntroductionAffordable care act was passed in the year 2010. The act put in place an inclusive health insurance reforms which were to be rolled out within four years. The affordable care had a number of provisions that were geared towards improving the healthcare of the people. Some of the issues it addressed includes high cost of health insurance. In short, affordable Care Act is an extremely complex section of the legislation that was rushed to Congress and became a law.

This act was faced with many challenges that made it difficult to live up to the expectations. However, its roll out from October 1st 2013 has been so far successful. Below are the major problems that made it unsuccessful, solutions that were provided as well as suggestions on how to enhance its future success.DiscussionSome of the reasons that led to its failure were technical, and others were political. Political problems came about due to the presidential over-promising as well as radical political opposition that the project faced.

The process used to choose companies that were supposed to create a website by the government was faced with fraudulent. This resulted to massive failure of the website that was intended to make it simple to apply and acquire insurance hence the process was not running the way it was supposed for everyone. The website was too slow, and people could get stuck throughout the process of application. The government should have solved this problem by invalidating the list of contractors who had been chosen through a fraudulent process and carry out transparency procurement process (Emanuel 25).

Regardless of the problems officials of federal health proceeded with the designed rollout. The outcome was that the website went down shortly after many people tried to run the process. This failure was said to have been caused by the government over-reliance specific contractors for the technology work hence the process producing uninspiring outcomes. However, other people attributed the problem to be poor planning and implementation rather than contractors hired from private companies. In addition, companies that offered insurance services complained that they were getting incomplete information about customers.

This led to suggestions that made Obama hire outside experts to try to help in fixing the website tribulations. (Emanuel 32).Most of this problems were solved successfully and starting October,1 2013 affordable care act was rolled out afresh. An easier way of signing up for health insurance was put into place where the same result as that one on Healthcare.gov was expected as. The government added another functionality to the website that allowed people to sign up for strategies on their site.

This ensured they were connected with a group of web brokers who presented a means to register to qualified health plan which was said to be simpler and quicker as compared to the federal exchange. Other companies have since come up with ways to improve service delivery. The HealthSherpa team since then has added two more employees and invested 1.1 million in seed financial support (Emanuel 34).ConclusionTo sustain this affordable care act a completely integrated approach is deemed most competent in the end.

Since coverage programs got numerous shared eligibility and functions of enrollment that include making use of new ACA required revenue standard. The insurance companies should try to shorten the time take for individuals to sign up to at least ten minutes. The department of health come up with more agreements in conjunction with web brokers that will enable the websites to give customers alternatives apart from the federal exchange. This will ensure consumers can sign up for health care still within the affordable care act.
