Extract of sample "Wireless Sensor vs. Optical Fiber"

Optical Fiber requires high investment costs for its establishment,[1] but as compared to Wireless Sensor Network, this technology offers less establishment cost. Here an important point is: optical fiber needs more expensive optical transmitters and receivers as compared to Wireless Sensor networks.  Maintaining cost is too high as compared to Wireless Sensor Network (Kenneth, 1998). If we talk about the size point of view then the overall size like transmitting, protection, establishment, and all those factors that are involved in the communication infrastructure is too less in Wireless Sensor Network as compared to optical fiber [2].

The deployment of optical fiber really takes time (Kenneth, 1998), we need a lot of time for the establishment of communication set up between two points, but in Wireless Sensor Network we have the communication infrastructure deployment faster. As in the battlefield communication infrastructure we have only one choice that is Wireless Sensor Network [1]. Another point that gives more strength to Wireless Sensor Network is it provides the working facility in an area like, military and battlefield[2], also automotive and transportation, security, and surveillance use at these places we can not deploy the optical fiber to have communication infrastructure.

Few impotent projects like environmental monitoring[3] in some remote areas like in forests can only have Wireless Sensor Network not the optical fiber for this purpose. Another point related to this is in projects like habitat monitoring: wildlife conservation project we only have Wireless Sensor Network.
