Dance Concert: Jabbawockeez The Jabbawockeez has catapulted to popularity after winning in the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew. Since then, the group generated a steady patron of dance enthusiasts, including me. As such, I had the opportunity to see them in their dance concert held last May 22 in Las Vegas Jabba Theatre at Luxor Hotel [Jab14].The Luxor Hotel’s Las Vegas Jabba Theatre was filled with fans of the Jabbawockeez. The stage was embellished with magnificent props and designs that enhanced the varied dance numbers which were prepared for the guests and audience.

Like other dance concerts of Jabbawockeez, the dance production numbers were excellently executed which made the fans affirm the exemplary talents of all members of the group. The concert was enigmatic and dynamic. The members showcased new dance moves that were not shown in their previous concerts. For instance, there were some dance steps requiring difficult and challenging stunts that the audience loved. These steps were creatively choreographed, in conjunction with perfect timing with the selected background music.

Likewise, the lighting that accompanied the members’ dance moves were also instrumental and contributory to the enhancement of their dance numbers. Every time that the members would change costumes and dance to a different tune accompanied by acoustics and lighting, the audience were just enthralled. It was therefore fun to visualize the group in artistically designed outfits: including masks with matching head gears, colorful or black and white costumes, and gloves. Since their faces are covered with masks, the audience is not accorded with the opportunity to see their expressions while dancing.

Some people disclose that dancers greatly enhance their performances through exhibiting the appropriate facial expression that should match their movements. However, in the case of the Jabbawockeez, their expertise, movements, creative skills, and evident talent in dancing compensate for the absence of facial expressions. As such, the audience is still left mesmerized after each dance rendition. With the selection of the soundtrack for the concert, the audience could not help but feel the groove, get up and dance with the group.

Overall, in retrospect, I strongly believe that the strong appeal of the group stems from their ability to touch the heart and minds of the audiences. The group injects humor in some choreographed numbers that touches on the emotions of the audience. In addition, once the group starts showcasing their dancing skills, there is no way that the audience would be inattentive or unmoved. There is a sense of enigma or a powerful force that envelopes the group into asserting their inspiring journey to popularity and fame.

The effort they put into preparing for a dance concert through the interplay of well-thought of choreography, the soundtracks, and the lighting, props, as well as production definitely made the show highly entertaining and fun to watch. Their loyal followers were surely grateful for having been given a marvelous show; and I am sure that the group has enticed new dance enthusiasts as a set of future fans of the Jabbawockeez.Work CitedJab14: , (Jabbawockeez),
