The Getty’s collections reflect various artworks that tend to uphold the cultural values and identities of different cultures. In addition, the Museum gives research and investigation opportunities for students and citizens across the globe (Chang 90). The museum is considered to be a tool of fundamental significance in assisting various students to put their acquired knowledge into practice. Numerous artworks have been installed to enhance and sharpen the knowledge that the students have learned.

In the course of uncovering historical happenings, art plays an essential role. In the course of history, the field of art has proven to be a significant culture of the human race. Not only does the field of art teaches about the historical happenings of mankind but also passes on emotions and information that cannot be verbally expressed or written (Chang 121). As the history of the past takes its course and the rate of civilization diversifies, the evolution and transformation in art can also be observed. The Getty Museum had numerous artifacts on display that are collected from different granting us a chance to have a transparent overview of how life was some decades ago. The Getty Museum is divided into four, each section displaying different types of artworks.

Various artifacts were observed in the museum. The art was devotional because the images were depicting some religious aspects and elements in them. The images were aiding and attempting to communicate the need for prayer and meditation. Various values of different religions and cultural ways of worship were depicted and represented in the images. The first sculpture was that of Shiva as Tripurantaka, who is considered to be the destroyer of the three cities of the Demons. The sculpture depicted the Hindu god, Shiva in his iconic form of Tripurantaka. It has some Hindu text on it. It probably attempted to illustrate the Hindu religion and contemporary art. The upper-cover album epitomized a renowned Indian artist who used the finest wood carvers to promote the contemporary art of Indian culture (Chang 210). It had the Hindu mythological figure of animals and vegetation. The second artifact that was observed was a royal peacock barge that depicted the Indian royal pleasure boat that was essentially enjoyed by Siraj-ud Daula, who was the governor of a place known as Bengal from the year of 1756 to 1757. He used the boats to ferry himself and his guest during a festival in the Ganges River. It was called a peacock barge because it had the shape of a peacock. In addition, it had an entertainment pavilion for music and dancers. The graced image of the goddess made it essential for ritual immersion in Durga Puja festivals. Another image that was observed was the South Asian sculpture. It depicted an authentic quality and historical value. It contained 345 artworks that entailed paintings and decorations that entail the history of the whole Indian art. It had a combination of Hinduism and Buddhism.   It has Hinduism, Brahm who means the creator, Vishnu who means the preserver, and Shiva who means the destroyer. Buddhism is depicted in the historical teachings of Buddha represented in the sculpture. The writings were the symbols of the teachings of Buddha and the Asian temples.

The iconology used in the sculptures was the religious history of various cultures. The two mains were Buddhism and Hinduism. The images were devotional art because the images were depicting some religious aspects and elements in them. They were not expensive but expressional. The artists attempted to use contemporary art to elaborate their culture. The art of that period featured vigorous styles in the sculptures and the painting. The sculptures were based on small-scale materials made of curved rocks and ivory (Chang 71). The illuminated manuscripts represented the traditional religion of the 7th to 9th centuries. The ultimate purpose of these sculptural schemes was to give a transparent overview that conveyed the message that Indian and Hindu believers should recognize any wrongdoing and tell them to repent their sins.
