There is a symbiotic relationship between fashion photography. According to Jade (2012), fashion photography is a modern beast that plays a significant role in shaping the modern society. However, fashion is not just the clothes people wear, it extends to restaurants, music people listen, a movement, and a moment in time. Currently, fashion and photography has broken the previous existing boundaries to bring something new and unusual things into existence. The previous gentle but feminine clothes have been blend with edgy and urban models. The previous rules of fashion and photography have been broken, an aspect that has enabled the two areas to bring out something new and original. In an era of smartphones, computers, television, and tabloid newspapers, the need to blend the two has been growing in a high speed (Wells, 2014). Each day, millions of people across the world are able to engage in various cultural events. This has increased the celebrities’ urge to keep their followers informed and entertained. Therefore, through the use of social media, they have been able to achieve this objective by posting their pictures on the platform. This cannot be achieved without having to blend fashion for them to remain relevant. This paper will use Amy Astley to demonstrate the way in which fashion and photography inform each other.

Fashion is able to entice photography. For instance, in major events in the world, the clothes that a celebrity is wearing attract the attention of the audience who ensure that they get a picture of the celebrity. In an example, Lupita Nyong’o made heads to roll as she emerged in the Oscars wearing a scarlet Ralph Lauren caped dress. Few months later, she appeared in various advertising campaigns with each magazine trying to ensure that the celebrity appears in the front page of the copy. This indicates the relationship that exists between fashion and photography. In addition, it highlights the way people are eager to get a glimpse of the latest fashion in the market. Therefore, they keep themselves up-to-date by following the celebrities who mainly introduce the latest fashion. However, in order for this aspect to be achieved, these figures but work closely with photographers in order to reach their global followers. This is the case with Amy who is actively involved in photography in order to keep her followers informed about her latest moves in the film industry.

Fashion dictates the dimension to be taken by photography. In many cases, the clothes that Amy is wearing dictate the environment from which the pictures are going to be taken from (Wells, 2014). This is through ensuring that they are conversant with the latest fashion and how to bring the best out of themselves by taking the latest pictures which must be of high quality. This explains the reason why despite several rumours and allegations regarding Amy, she has been able to remain on top, when it comes to fashion and photography.

The changes in the market have led to improved relationship between the two sectors which are forced to work together in order to achieve more success. Young people are the main drivers of the fashion industry (González, 2012). On the other hand, they mainly use social media to review the experiences of other clients regarding a product. Therefore, it has become very significant for the fashion to embrace photography in order to reach at this important market segment. This indicates the reason why Amy has been using this channel to reach more people and expand her popularity beyond borders.
