The book “Wizard” is a life history of Nikola Tesla by Seifer, and it was published in the year 1996. Seifer is luminous essayist and scholar, who has fashioned a superbly readable and enlightening memoirs of one of the most intriguing men know as Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, and he was born on July 10, 1856, in a small town called Smiljan the province of the modern-day Croatian Republic. Subsequently, Seifer’s work has helps us to comprehend about the life of Nikola by depicting that he was born from a poor family as her mother was an illiterate housewife while his father was a priest. Interestingly, Seifer clearly portrays that even though Nikola came from a poor family he was intellectual talent, and this made him become one of the best renowned investors. Therefore, it through Seifer elucidation that we came to realize that Nikola was an electrical engineer who invented, induction motor, alternating-current (AC) that made the successful transmission and allotment of electricity possible. In that perception, Seifer gives an elucidation that, Nikola began his studies in mathematics and physic at Graz Polytechnic, and he had also pursued philosophy at the University of Prague. For this reason, Seifer gives enlightenment that this was the beginning of Nikola devotion into inventing great things and ideas that have made a significant contribution to the progression and evolution of the life of human beings. Subsequently, Seifer inform us that, since college Nikola had invented numerous inventions such as telephone repeater, rotating magnetic field principle, Tesla coil transformer radio, induction motor, wireless communication, fluorescent light and more than 700 other patents. For that reason, Seifer’s revelation about Nikola helps us to apprehend that Nikola was a real genius at the electrical system. Nevertheless, there is considerable bewilderment about his technical contributions and even more about his personal life but Seifer has provided the fullest description of Tesla as an experimental, entrepreneur, physicist and inventor. Therefore, Seifer's brilliant, revelatory and a comprehensively researched on the life story of Nikola has played a significant role in rescuing Nikola’s pioneer invention from cult status and restores him to his rightful place as the most important architect of the contemporary epoch. Therefore, it is worth to note that in this modern era, Tesla is enjoying recognition presented by books like “Wizard”. Conversely, the progressive advancement of man is essentially dependent of innovation. As a result, Seifer uses his book to enlighten us that Nikola could generate ideas by turning his thought into greater invention by harness the creativity of his brain. Moreover, Seifer uses his book to portray to us the way Nikola could visualize with his superlative mind and transform idea it into a real application. This is clear as Nikola once mention in his autobiography that “when I get an idea I begin at once building it up in my mind's eye. I modify the construction, make improvement and operate the devices in my mind”. Therefore, Nikola was a metaphysical genius who could use the minute details, and when it was manufactured for the first time it will work just as he had visualized. Besides that, Seifer explicates to us that Nikola had the aptitude to see a completed mental picture of his finished invention that were motivated by external stimuli. It is through this that we are able to understand that anyone who thinks deeply and think effectively will always make great things. Imaginations supplement our mind with the mental picture that actually makes it possible for to be inventors. Subsequently, Seifer’s elucidation exposes how Nikola generate ideas through the influence of her mother, Nikola’s mother invented and constructed all variety of tools and woven the finest designed from the thread, and this molded his creative mind. Additionally, Nikola’s father had a large library, and this satisfied his passion for reading and this also help him to generate his inventive ideas. For instance, Nikola has attributed his inspiration for inventing alternating current (AC) was trough a poem he was reciting to a friend and he claim that the poem help him understand the “Nature of Creativity”. Additionally, Seifer helps us apprehend about Nikola formal career by explaining how Nikola had moved to Budapest to work as the senior electrician at America Telephone Company. Seifer explains that after Nikola has been posted to America Telephone Company in 1881 it was here that he was able to invent his first invention that was an amplifier. Subsequently, in 1882 as an engineer for the Continental Edison Company Nikola had one of his metaphysical visualization that helped him to develop induction motor and he also began to develop various devices that used rotating magnetic. What’s more, Seifer tells us in 1884 Nikola migrated to U.S., where he went to work for Edison Machine Work and help this company to develop direct current (DC) motor. However, Nikola resigned from his job after the company management refused to increase his salary by 25$/week. This made him resign and move on to establish his own company “Tesla Electric-Light & Manufacturing”. It was here that Nikola started working on developing alternative current (AC) motor. Furthermore, Seifer describes that Nikola had achieved more invention for instances in 1887 he initiated brushless alternating current induction motor and more other patents. It was through, all this that Nikola was given an honorary degree by Yale and Columbia University, and other awarded such as Elliot Cresson Medal and Edison Medal in 1917. Moreover, Seifer’s elucidation about Nikola enables us to understand his perception about life in the way he thinks. Nikola was extraordinary and unique as his vision was of how the society could benefit from his invention. It s through this that we are able to understand that Nikola's think was for the good welfare of the society, and he never places his personal interest first. This was revealed when he died as lonely man and debtor. Moreover, Seifer uses his book to depict to us how Nikola paper were seized and sealed by FBI by marking them “Top Secret”. In conclusion, after reading Seifer’s work, it is worthy to note that Nikola was talented inventor and the man who has made a significant and long-lasting contribution to the practical application of science in the commercial world. However like any other human being Nikola had his own imperfection driven by bad temper and progressive germ phobia he possesses. As a final point, Nikola being practical and successful in the technical domain he was very weak in financial matters, and this made him not to benefit personally from his significant invention. Thus, he dies as destitute and significant debtor in 1943 in New York. Read More
