Analyzing two texts Both documents contain elements of academic writing in the sense that they address and present the required information to the audience in an organized manner. In the first document, it is clear to see the message presented. The author argues in a well-organized manner that in order for companies to make profits, they need to work with other companies in a friendly environment so that they can jointly generate efficient work. The clears shows that if companies works in a friendly ecosystem or relate in a positive manner, they in turn form connection with other companies, which opens ways for more opportunities and good working environment. Additionally, they are in a position to work with distributors and suppliers of certain products thus providing value propositions to the customer. The document or text goes ahead to give an example of company that have succeeded with such a method. An example of a firm that works in an ecosystem is Intel cooperation. Intel works in a network with its suppliers or upstream (like ASML and Nikon) and distributors in order to be successful. However, unlike in the second document that does not state the consequence of participating in a certain activity, the first text explains that some firms work independently and do not share information with the ecosystem; as a result, they suffer from problems such as delays. This text focus on why inter-firm coordination and interaction of investment decisions is important. Further, it critically examines the kinds of inter-firm coordination accounting and information systems being designed to enable this coordination such as roadmaps. In addition, the first text centers entirely on the operation of the business. For instance, it assert that It is important to identify rival firms and determine their weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, capabilities, objectives, threats, and strategies. Competitive intelligence is therefore the main determinant for success of a business organization in a commercial environment. Weaknesses of competitors are indication of external opportunities while strengths of the competitors are the threats of a business organization. It is also important for a business organization to collect competitive information, as this would be advantageous in setting up strategies. On the other hand, the second text aims at educating the public why reviews are conducted and the government department responsible for carrying out this function. At the end, they manage to deliver their message to the audience by convincing them to accept the information presented. In the second document, the author argues that it is important to contact spending reviews on how government institutions use funds. In this message, the author targets the government and the public in that it educates them on how comprehensive spending review helps to understand developmental process. Further, it states that spending reviews is contacted by the HR treasury. In this regard, the public get to understand that spending reviews is carried out via public service agreement and is focused on defining the vital measures that require to be taken in order to offer services to people. The first text acknowledges the importance of working with other people and as a team. Apparently, group effectiveness has become integral in most organizations today. This has bolstered the significance of group effectiveness skills, which include proper interpersonal communication skills, ability to diffuse conflicts, teamwork, appreciation for diversity and negotiation skills, among others. There is increased prevalence of organizations to adopt work groups or teams aimed at curbing a full gamut of challenges that have marred today’s business environments. The success of Intel greatly relied on working with others and as a team, which ensured that it reached to all its customers. It is significant to note that the two texts like other academic texts asserts that governmental, political, and legal aspects mainly affect the business organization. Global and local factors are very important because state, local, federal, and foreign governments majorly subsidize and regulate the activities of the organizations. They are also the major employers and customers of an organization. The political variables are also important in development, conception, and operations of a business due to the increasing interdependence among markets, governments, economies, and organizations. It is also important to consider the national political stability as this greatly affects operations of a business. The political landscape is very complicated today and that is the reason why entrepreneurs find time to attend government-sponsored conferences, meeting government officials, and press releases in order to get updated on political developments. The texts are similar in the manner in which they address the economic factors that drive organizations. From the texts, this entails a comprehensive economic analysis of regional, global, and national performance of a business. Economic factors greatly and highly affect whether the various business ventures will be attractive or not. Economic analysis may describe a number of variables like the shift in economy’s nature, credit availability, disposable income level, inflation, interest rates, government deficits, consumption patterns, foreign currency fluctuations, unemployment trends, stock market trends, price indexes, monetary policies, and fiscal policies. Unlike the second text, the first text did address the importance of structures and sizes in business organization. The structures and sizes of business organizations are important factors to consider since they determine the target consumers, the types of products and services to be offered. Organizations also have a variety of functions, which include provision of consistent services across channels through proper communication, collection of customer feedback, creation of a customer service culture, establishment of a vision for customer service excellence, recruitment, retaining of good employees, and implementation external strategies. These functions are very important for an organization because they promote efficiency and high productivity, which then helps the business organization to achieve the set goals and objectives. However, both texts assert that organizations should have a culture of ensuring that there is safety, promotion of health, and environmental conservation in all their operations. The company has policies that ensure safety of workers and the environment in all its operations. The company also has a culture of promoting the health of its workers in the sense that the workers are not exposed to harmful substances or potentially harmful or dangerous operations. Conservation of the environment is also part of the company’s culture. This culture may affect the operation of the company in a number of ways. One way is that it limits the scope of operation of the company in the sense that the company cannot carry out some operations that are likely to cause harm to workers or the environment. This culture can also affect the cost of operations in the sense that the company may be forced to incur many costs in putting up safety measures and equipments for the workers and the environment. This means that the cost of operations is likely to go up with the additional costs. The similarities in the texts are also identified in the manner in which they address the importance of human resource department in any organization. HR professionals have very outstanding management functions within an organization. They are responsible for creating strategies focusing on recruiting, maintaining good employees, and are responsible for overseeing projects that increase an organization’s productivity. HR professionals are also often charged with the responsibility of forming training programs that strengthen the labor force in an organization. HR helps in training and development by assessing training needs, facilitating instruction, creating training manuals, and ensuring that training objectives are met. The next function of the HR as seen from the texts is employee acquisition, which is a vital factor in the success of an organization. Another function is that of project management, which ensures that the organization remains, organized in order to achieve goals through identification of benefits, costs, and analyzing the risks of a project. HR managers also carry out compliance management, which includes handling labor operations and resolving disputes. This is done by ensuring that the organization operates within government regulations. HR plays a big role in the success of a business organization because it serves as the basic environment through which individuals maximize their contributions towards goals and objectives. It also performs certain activities such as welfare services, employee benefits and relations, payment and remunerations and disciplinary or grievances issues.
