Chinese education system - Personal Statement Example

There is something of a crisis in the Chinese education system. Chinese who have been overwhelmed by academic pressure received from a young age, have too few resources to help them make career decisions. I aspire to provide the resources for these young adults to successfully make the transition from school to society. First, I would like to help them find their true interest and passion. The truth is that career exploration should start as early as high school, since most students in China decide on their majors before they enter university.

Students need more context to make an appropriate decision. I would like to invite volunteers from different industries to share their experience with high school and university students. I would also like to design internship programs for students to shadow? professionals in the industries they are interested in. The more information students have, the better a decision they can make. Another important factor largely missing in today's education in China is training in the soft skills. Soft skills are those that students need to continue to explore their career interests on their own and get on the right path.

My organization can provide training on networking, information collection, and other essential skills to students. With these skills, students will make the most of their precious college years and become fast-tracked? to excellent careers. I am fortunate enough to have an undergraduate education from a top liberal arts college in the U.S., which provided me career exploration skills and allowed me to see the disadvantages of students at home. Through work and activities, I have collaborated with professionals from different industries, as well as with university students, further deepening my understanding of the challenges faced by students in China.

I understand what must be done. Before I turn my vision into reality, I plan to continue to hone my business skills and increase my exposure by working in the consulting industry and through commitments like the Ai Community. A well-rounded business education at HBS is the best way to get me started. Its case method will allow me to learn the most from other students, which is a great way for me to obtain a better understanding of different industries and professions. The strong presence of the HBS alumni network in China will offer tremendous help in building connections.
