Policy Statements This part has expounded on the k-10 Curriculum in Australia recommended by the Board of Studies, NSW. The Outcomes This part deals with the milestones gained because of incorporation educational technology in curriculum and specifically in the area of Software Development and Programming. . Relevance It elaborates application of educational technology in everyday living. INTRODUCTION Educational technology encompasses the selective use of acquired skills, materials within ones disposal and past encounters to initiate mechanism and products that will meet with the emerging need of human beings (Winzenried, 2009). The definition of technology according to United Nations Education ,Social and Cultural Organization is…”the know-how and creative process that may assist people to utilize tools, resources and systems to solve problems and to enhance control over natural and made environment in an endeavor to improve human condition” (UNESCO, 1985). The application of technology will depend entirely on the individual standard of living, economy among others. In most circumstances, the technology of a given group of people will depend on their desires and requirements (Penrith, 2009). In a curriculum to have dynamic, inventive and business-oriented students there is need to come up with comprehensive technology to meet their daily life challenges.Since1989, States, Commonwealth countries, and Territories came up with most important national inventiveness in order to come up with statements and policies. These policies provide a platform for curriculum development, which will inculcate the skills required for teaching and learning technology. The Australian Educational Council (AEC) made up high profile governmental officials ushered in the work, which outlined indispensable pathway through which the skills and understanding would be developed and disseminated to the students (Winzenried, 2009). Policies and Statements from the K-10 Curriculum of the Board of Studies, (NSW) The syllabus is tailored and planned by the Board of Studies (NSW), in order to meet the specific needs of the learners (Winzenried, 2009). The syllabus has a number of specific requirements geared towards meeting learner’s goals and gather for the diverse groups of learners. These are some of the prospectus and course outline requirements: The syllabus encompasses the fully utilization of learner’s abilities and strengths directed top develop a leaner who can tackle life challenges with ease and sustain a conducive environment for his existence after schooling. The syllabus entails strategies to inculcate to the leaner the positive values .These values and ethics will enable the learner to live a productive life that is up to the standards of the society (Penrith, 2009). The K-10 curriculum also plays a pivotal role in the producing learners who are proactive and are vibrant members of the society’s who are integrated members of the society; are needed to be actively involved in societal affairs taking into account the ethics within him. While in participating in the societal matters, they should also take care of the religious nature. The syllabus itself provide avenues in which one can enjoy the learning process and gain morale for further studies or work later in life (Winzenried, 2009). The k-10 curriculum gears towards producing learners who will advocate and be part of the society which cultivate values of impartiality and equality to all diverse groups of people in the society. This framework of syllabus provide to learners the spirit of further studies and consistency of learning process hence providing smooth merger between one level to the other. Outcomes of the 5-stage Due to the dynamic world, which changes overnight it has necessitated that there be constant technological innovation. Human being who is the main player in the changing world has become a victim of circumstances and time-to-time man has wanted to live in areas, which are technological advantaged. Some technologies have become out-dated over time and becoming irrelevant thus need for the new research for new technologies. Under k-10 curriculum, in stage 5 outcomes it provides elaborate means for solving technological problems. The comprehensive learning of Information and Software Technology Years 7-10 has the potential to have relevant acquaintance and skills needed in the solving the real-life problems associated with the technological advancement (Winzenried, 2009). After the learners have captured the relevant knowledge in the wide variety of computer software , in addition, hard ware, they will be in a position to develop the correct mechanism in assortment pattern of different software program for various functions. The student will be in a position of sorting and maintaining the various hard wares as per their wide range of uses. These outcomes outline how the learner has captured from the syllabus the art of selecting the right hardware for the right purpose (Winzenried, 2009). The learner after developing the skills in solving a technological challenge, and possessing the vital analysis skills, is in a position to stipulate and diagnose the problem before providing the relevant solutions. The learner equipped with the creativity and the right information in software technology, can asses, generate the appropriate measures to a wide array of demanding technological problems. She/he can also make deep analysis of the problem at hand basing the solutions to available information in software. This outcome relies on having the information about software and involves deep analysis of the technological problems (Penrith, 2009). The students have cultivated the desirable standards, attitudes, and the pertinent information, relative to the employing of variety of software expertise. The learner will be able to validate the desirable and moral application on the use of available information and software technology. This will enable the learner to avoid the malpractices associated with the software technology and which are disastrous. The leaner will be in position to get and maneuver statistics, facts available in, and an ethical manner without prejudicing the already existing information on software technology. With the learner equipped with the knowledge and the right information on the effects of the past, current, the prevailing facts and technological advancement, on the human being and the community, one as a leaner can scrutinize these sound effects and provide reliable and accurate solutions (Penrith, 2009). In analyzing the issues, the leaner can comfortably come up with expertise and software remedies through their projects work both in person or as a group .This outcome underscores the importance of having the past, the current and the rising information on technology then as a student can handle array of problems and their solutions. The learners have the suitable communiqué skills and teamwork among learners, which will guarantee them of appropriate information on software technology remedies for explicit problems. Teamwork will support learners to have the self-assurance of finishing the assigned roles and is a breeding ground for innovation on the technology (Penrith, 2009). With the suitable communication skills, there will smooth flow of thoughts, mechanisms, and solutions to the wanted groups of populace. In dissemination of information, it will enable learners to have comparison and be in a position to discuss the different assigned roles of persons in the field of information of software technology. The outcome specifically addresses the issue of having the right communication skills in the field of information and software technology. This ensures that the target group gets the right information in relation to technology. Relevance After learning the about the impact of Information and software technology ,the leaner now is in a position of inventing and describing information technologies relevance .He is in a position of pin-pointing on past ,present and future issues and be able to asses the suitability of these issues for explicit purposes. In focus, after learners are equipped with reliable and accurate knowledge on information and software technology, the learner can practically undertake Development of Software and Programming (Penrith, 2009). The learner having the fundamental knowledge of programming,-functions, key in, output,-they critically analyze the code of the already existing program to explain the processes involved in the system for example, output, and key in. The student with the right knowledge can study and pinpoint out already installed series and functions. Modification of the already existing system will be work over to the learner and evaluate the effect of interchanging the output and the key in of the system (Penrith, 2009). The student also having learned about the GUT outline, which comprises of graphic apparatus, listing boxes and control keys, can safely and confidently put in test an already established GUI outline in chosen software series. Learners will be able to work easily and test the workability of the system in line with existing systems. With the knowledge and reliable and accurate information on GUI, learners will innovate and apply the simple programming system without much difficulty. At the same time due to teamwork among the peers, they will preside on peer evaluation to ascertain the design (Winzenried, 2009). In relation to statistics available on such items as nature, digit, and Boolean the learner will pin down the already working system and be in position to discuss its use. This is backed up by the fact the learner has adequate knowledge on the data type identification. The learner will be in a state of stability to explain guided by the adequate knowledge the comparison of data types existing in a given system. In terms of statistics operating system, the learner has the capability of differentiating the operating system components in a set up. Upon the learner having studied algorithms, she/he will discuss the various algorithms in every day life and what the term algorithm means. Illustration of algorithm by using the recommended methods will be of fewer problems. When-providing remedies for algorithms, the learner has capability of discussing its application techniques (Penrith, 2009) In applying the skills of error revealing, the leaner will be able to pinpoint and discuss errors in system using the syntax language or coding technique. In also analyzing the kind of errors, the learner will be able eradicate the origin of errors to generate a conducive proceeding code (Winzenried, 2009). References Lynch, D. & Knight, A. (2007).
