The discussion below is an over view of three vita theories that explain the cognitive development of children. The three include Piaget’s Cognitive-Developmental Theory, Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory and Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory. Each of the three just as hinted above offers a varied view to the development of children. The discussion is therefore an over view of the three with the view of portraying the fundamental features of the theories and the ideas that each theory foster. The theory strives to explain the nature of knowledge. It explains the process of acquiring knowledge, its construction and subsequent use of knowledge in humans.
