This includes a discussion on five key topics i.e., typical and atypical social and emotional development; inclusive strategies to address social or/and emotional delays or deficits; assessing, interpreting, and addressing challenging behaviour; the role of play in supporting social and peer confidence; and, lastly, the special needs of children in autism spectrum. Topic 1: Typical and atypical social and emotional development The study of developmental psychology, particularly its part focused on studying the behaviour of children, has been a key area of research for decades.

Various studies and researches have been carried out to investigate the children's attitude and approach to learning, and they have received rapid acknowledgement and significance within the academic world. The various theories put forward by researchers have pointed out the role of typical and atypical social and emotional development and its role, impact, and influence on learning and teaching practices within an educational setting. The study of social and emotional development of children helps expand one's present knowledge base and awareness regarding the key factors which contribute to the development of literacy among children.

It also contributes immensely to assessing the various factors which cause learning disabilities and setbacks among students and the various ways in which the same can be overcome. The reading materials used as a part of this study provided a deeper insight into the various approaches that can be applied within a learning environment and enrich the teachers' experiences, ultimately leading to improving the children's understanding and learning capabilities. The developmental screening of students helps gain a wider insight and information regarding the various assessment techniques that can be used to enhance the students learning capabilities.

The course materials used a part of this study contributed immensely in my present knowledge and understanding of the subject and afforded me the opportunity to study and understand the various factors that lead to typical and atypical social and emotional development as well as various ways in which they can influence learning and teaching. According to Krause, Bochner, and Duchesne (2003) the ability of individuals to perform and execute a given task successfully depends largely on their beliefs regarding their respective abilities.

These abilities, in turn, are dependent on their perception of self, which is largely influenced by the warmth, affection, and praise they receive. According to Stack, Serbin, Enns, Ruttle, & Barrieau (2010), the level of social competence and pro-social behaviour among them is directly related to the warmth, praise, and affection extended to them by the parents. Therefore, children whose parents are hostile and aggressive towards them are highly likely to develop low self-perception, leading to atypical social and emotional development.

This study helped immensely by contributing to my understanding of the development of human mind and provided me with meaningful insights of how to apply this knowledge and guide the students to accomplish the assigned tasks successfully and compete in natural settings. The early intervention strategies and approaches as suggested by Guralnick (2010) helped me in understanding the various reasons behind developmental delays in infants and young children. Also the
