From among the assessment measures that Krull discussed, the impact on policies to child and adult poverty was comprehensively presented, to include historical and comparative performance from the time policymakers passed a resolution that earmarked the need to eradicate child poverty by the year 2000 (Krull). An evaluation was likewise reviewed on the implications of policies implemented on child care where it was recommended that a closer look at Quebec’s family policy model which actively implements a universal child care program and addresses poverty of the family through taking into consideration facets of addressing unemployment. As such, it was proposed that Quebec’s family policy model should be emulated for more effective results. Personal Reflection and Response One strongly believes that the main points that were presented and discussed by the author have been duly supported and validated. The issues on family and child-related policies were effectively discussed using the most appropriate choice of benefits that were accessed. A discussion of the assessment measures was also validated as a means to measure the performance of these policies and the outcomes that ensued from the times relevant resolutions were enacted. The discussion on the effect of the resolution aiming to eradicate child poverty, for instance, was presented in a comprehensive and cohesive manner which were supported using statistics and the support from credible secondary sources. The overall discussion of main issues used reliable and credible support through narrative discourse, historical references, statistics, and provision of examples. The structure of overall presentation was clear and straightforward through the use of logical approach. A theoretical framework was initially provided prior to delving into more specific and intricate concerns that affect family policies. Appropriate headings and sub-headings were provided that enhanced categorizing the subject matters being discussed. Likewise, through the provision of visual illustration, such as the graph presented as Figure 15.1 representing poverty rates for children under 18 (Krull 85), readers were accorded greater opportunities for understanding the contentions being justified. The language used was likewise easily understandable and comprehensible. The author used the technique of enumerating factors in a more frequent manner and citations from authoritative secondary sources were aptly provided, as required. The concepts and information relayed were new, especially the comparison made between the family policies of Canada, in general, as compared to the family policy model presented and applied by Quebec. It was commendable to use Quebec as a point of reference where a more effective family policy model could be emulated to improve the family policies currently implemented in Canada. Likewise, the author used effective techniques through citing statistics and comparative historical figures to make a point, for instance regarding the ineffectiveness of the resolution that aimed to eradicate children’s poverty and the insufficient benefits that were received by family members
