The majority of the trending issues within an individual cohort of people such as females, elites and celebrity would be entailed in their respective magazines (Wood, 2009). For instance, the women magazine would be much about what transpires a woman towards happiness or success in life.

Gender has been a point of heated debate over the media. With the current women empowerment campaigns, the issue always tops the list in those popular magazines. According to the magazine that were in circulation in the 1940s, most of them entailed happiness of a woman to having a family. Currently, woman happiness is more inclined to career fulfilments, reads most of the magazines. In the modern marriages, sexuality has been an integral aspect of the success of any marriage. There is the popular columnist that are part of the magazines that shares pieces of knowledge on sexuality to its audience.

In essence, sexuality is partly to what holds a couple together besides other issues in life (Cusumano & Thompson, 2007). When it comes to racism, the Western world has been accused many times of their retrospective attitude towards the blacks. Despite the fact that anti-racial prejudice is guarded by the constitution, it is still rife. Most of the magazines would try address such anomalies in the society. Television is arguably the widespread genre compared to the rest. As such, what is displayed in Television has a major influence on the society.

For instance, issues of sexuality have topped the list in most of the TV programs. With the introduction of gay marriages in the western states, the theme has been amplified through TV programs and other Medias (Hawkins & Pingree, 2008). Gender whereby the roles have changed in the society. Women are empowered for managerial position while the family roles have been split between the man and the woman. The white supremacy has proved to be a hard nut to crack. It is through some of the TV programs that these issues are addressed to have a rational thinking society.

In conclusion, magazines educate, enlighten and shapes how people think. The majority of these issues are intended for the good of all such as tips on maintaining a family and career growth; however, some of the issues go overboard and can mislead the audience. A survey done shows women in the 40s and 50s were happy than the modern women. Just as magazines does, TV is informative in the current issues. The constant message aired to the audience may, however, create a negative perception on important issues such as sexuality, violence and race.
