Solid hardwood is among the materials that are rated as the best due to its long-lasting ability. These floors are water-resistant making them special on their own.
Floors made out of hardwood are easy to maintain due to the growth of technology in society. This makes it easy to clean on a daily basis.
The use of hardwood as the floor is very good because it is less inexpensive than other types of floors. Furthermore, the hardwood is environmentally friendly thus making no effects on the user.

Disadvantages of a solid
Hardwood cannot be suitable for areas with high humidity because the floor is sensitive to high humidity, which will damage the texture of the floor. Anyone who is willing to install a hardwood floor is advised to have a well-ventilated structure (U. S. Bureau of the Census 1966).
The appearance of hardwood is prone to damage because of scratching from pets’ nails or traffic.
Advantages of stone made floors

Most of the floors are made out of stones is cheap because stones are naturally found in the earth's crust.
Stone floors enhance the appearance of a structure because it is used as interior and exterior design
Floors made from stones are long-lasting due to their hard texture and the procedure used while making one where cement and ballast are used.
Disadvantages of stone made floors
Some of the stones made floors can be slippery when water and soap encounter the floor making it prone to accidents, especially to children.
These floors can cause allergies or sickness to people. This during the cold seasons, which will make floor to absorb the atmosphere
Construction of these types of floors consumes many resources and it takes time in order for it to be fit for use.

The procedure of building a floor
1. Pre-construction procedure
Before undergoing any construction, someone should be able to locate qualified contractors with qualified certificates in order to ensure the project will follow the required guidelines of the building statutes (Talbot 2012).

The contractor should be able to examine the physical location of the site before commencing any groundbreaking activity.
There should be a well-designed plan for the project, which should consist of safety measures while under construction and after construction to ensure safety for the users.
2. Construction Procedure
The physical location will undergo a groundbreaking procedure where the contract will search for a rock where it will act as a support for the structure.
After the groundbreaking, the contract should fill the location with the ‘quarry waste’ up to the beam of the structure (Talbot 2012).
Sand, ballast, and cement are mixed with water in order to cover the stones and to smoothen the surface of the floor.

For the finishing of the floor, the user can use wood if the structure is for residential purposes, the user can fit plywood and if the structure is for commercial purposes the floor can be finished by installing tiles or precious stones such as marbles and fota stones. The installation of hardwood on the floor in residential houses will help in controlling cold-related allergies, which are obtained from the cold cemented floor. Furthermore, hardwood is among the safest material to used regarding safety measures (Talbot 2012).
