The Role of People You Meet - Essay Example

Sometimes people you meet can influence you very unexpectedly: they can teach you much, show new horizons or simply help with everyday decisions. I know two outstanding personalities who shared their unique views on life with me - Ashley and Sumin. We study together and a have a lot in common and I guess it will be interesting for you to find out what is in the heads of these little geniuses. Ashley and Sumin are both very nice and open-minded; they easily make friends with other people because they have a lot of interesting interests and topics for conversation. It was exciting to contrast their experience with my own. So profession usually defines a person and it is interesting to learn what these people want to do in life. Pupils do not often know what they want to do in future and decide it in the last moment, however, Ashley, Sumin and I know how we want to earn money and that is the first thing that unites us. However, our directions in life are a bit different. Ashley studies chemistry, and she thinks that it is one of the most interesting subjects in the world because it has very little theory and not many calculations. She says “I like doing things not speaking about them or theorizing and making assumptions”. So Ashley knows for sure - chemistry is just for her! Ashley is totally concentrated on her subject and plans to dedicate her life to it. She says “I want to go into forensic chemistry on a professional level and work tirelessly to achieve the highest results! I also would like to be a college professor in one day, just to be able to experience the hustle the professors go through while handling a bunch of rowdy students”. Ashley is working at the moment to make some money. She prefers to pet sit rather than to baby sit because it is much easier to connect with animals rather than angry crying babies. Summin majors in kinesiology because he loves science, especially anatomy! He thinks studying a human body with a possibility to help humanity is very motivating. Summin would like to study biology further. He says “I want to be a biology expert in future so people will probably see me in some laboratory in big glasses in ten years. For some people it may seem boring but for me this is real fun!”. But there is another thing that Sumin loves as much as he loves his favorite subject- it is sport, snowboarding in particular. So alternatively he can continue snowboarding which he adores and work at some snow resort as an instructor. That is also human anatomy, you know! I major in math and after my graduation I want to be a math teacher. I love teaching and know math and as such both features can combine to make me a great teacher. So we with Ashley understand each other in desire to share knowledge with others. It brings satisfaction and helps other people to develop. Some people do not like so much communication at work but for me constant contact with people is very important. In addition, math finds a lot of application in everyday life. Each time it comes to real money like in cases of shopping I apply my math skills. So my work will be very practical and useful. But I would never make snowboarding which I also adore my work because for me it is a bit complicated. So this will remain my hobby. But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. So it is interesting to learn what hobbies these students have and as we are practically of the same age it turns out that we share common views on free time and hobbies. Ashley says “I love my family so most of her free time I spend with my close people. My extended family lives in Philippines and I miss them a lot that is why I visit them sometimes”. They do what most families do together: cook, play games, talk. She also has a pet which she adores, it is a dog. She spends a lot of time with him as well because it is necessary to teach him all the time. Ashley also likes going to gym because it gives her positive emotions and helps to stay fit. Summin is a “family person” but at the moment he enjoys living with friends so his hobbies are pets and fitness. He says” I miss my family a lot and talk to them often. It is important for me to keep constant contact with his parents despite the fact that they live far away” .Summin has two dogs and they need a lot of attention and care so he always knows what to do when he has a free minute. Snowboarding is his passion. He wants to be a professional in this sport as well because it is so cool! I love animals and I would spend most of my free time playing with them. I also enjoy being with my family and cooking tasty dishes for them. Once a couple of months our whole family with my grandparents gathers together and I love these moments. So family is very important for all of us and we all want to have a good caring family in future. And you know the best way to understand the person is to learn how he would spend big sum of money like 100 million dollars! Ashley says “I would share this sum: I would give some of it to her grandfather, some of it to her parents, and then donate some of it to humanitarian organizations”. So Ashley knows that it is important to help her grandfather who lives far away and has to work despite his old age. Sumin says “I would spend one million of his 100 million jackpot then put the rest in a trust fund for the rest of my family!”. Sumin also dreams about a big house somewhere in California. He says “I like Canada and could easily live in Toronto as I have a friend there”. It is really exciting to know and to share dreams with each other and it turned out that our dreams are not as different as it seemed. About wishes Ashley says “I want to have a good family and be financially capable whereby I will be able to help her family members”. Ashley also wishes to be able to eat everything and not get fat, and thereby not have to do any form of workout. She wishes to stay in the country in order to take advantage of job opportunities around here, but her travel destination would be Philippines, which is her home country. Sumin’s three wishes are to be around water all the time, to play and never to be injured as he has suffered several injuries before – to be indestructible, and to win a million dollars. My three wishes are to meet a good person and get married to him, and then win a million dollars. With this money, I will become very rich and travel the beach side every day. I love swimming and the beach, especially those with breath taking sites such as Acapulco, Bahamas, and Miami. I would love to buy a luxurious house by the beach, which would enable me to frequent the beach every time I feel like taking a dip. So we all want to be financially independent and able to help our families.
