Research-based Persuasive Argument Introduction Scientists from WHO conducted a study and found out that around 154,000 individuals die annually because of global warming effects. There are predictions that these numbers are likely to double by the year 2020. Gaughen (23) notes that global warming is associated with different health benefits such as increased crop yields in the temperate zones as well as lower cold-related mortality. However, these will be rapidly outweighed by the escalated incidences of other disease. Miller (27) notes that if there are small temperatures shifts, mosquitoes ranges could be extended, and this can lead to more malaria spread. There are high chances of water supplies being contaminated by floods, and as a result, crops could be washed away. Global warming leads to a rise of the sea, which makes the water to cover numerous low land islands. Consequently, many people, animals, and plants on the islands suffer. Plants die, and animals lack food. Although animals might be able to adapt to this situation, they also die with time. People lose food (animals and plants) and their homes. The algae in oceans are also harmed and die. Within the last century, the temperature of the planets has increased by approximately one degree Celsius. The hottest years were experienced between 1997 and 2003. By the close of the century, the United Nations predicts that the global temperatures will have increased by 3- 10 degrees Celsius, and this will see all the polar caps melted. As a result, the countries’ borders will be ruined. Great monuments and buildings will also be under the water, including the New York City. Context Since childhood, I always have had a deep passion in nature, life, and science since I was a primary school scholar. After that, I joined numerous campaigns. I have also been engaging in personal research through experimenting myself depending on the science subjects learned at school, as well as reading. There aspects are still part of the daily life, and my main goal is ensuring that I can make a contribution towards curbing the global warming. Thesis The global warming challenge results from different factors that can be prevented and, therefore, individuals have a great role in promoting a safer world by eliminating global warming. Supporting evidence Since the global warming argument’s inception and eruption during the 1980s in popular and scientific literature, the environmental change aspect has been under exploration by people in astronomy, biological sciences, geosciences, as well as environmental sciences. Fields such as engineering, agriculture, medicine, population statistics and demographics, political science, and economics have also made contributions in the debates. In literature, there are discussions about the intricate connections between these disciplines. Different authors have made attempts of integrating them, as well as developing meaningful conclusions as well as potentially useful solutions. Miller (27) made an effort to explain the enormous and broad cycles of warming and cooling which have been experienced since the start of the earth. In response to this, Long (32) echoes how the catastrophic climates changes have had effects on the surface conditions of the planet and directed the gigantic or minute environmental factors’ changes. As a result, there has been speciation as well as other biological dynamics, effects that were evident even before the evolution of humans. Pringle (21) goes on to demonstrate the manner in which mass extinction events have always resulted from gradual or sudden changes in surface temperature of the earth. This results from cataclysms and climatic conditions like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, in addition to other colossal happenings. Principally, human activity is accountable for a lot of the changes in temperature that have been experienced gradually. The impacts of the human endeavor to clothe, feed, as well as transport goods and people around the universe have resulted to irreparable atmospheric damages. This dates back to the industrial revolution period, the internal combustion engine’s invention, in addition to the accessibility of reticulated power and fuel to the human habitations. In case these emissions ceased being pumped into the globe’s atmosphere continually, then there would have been no fluctuations and rises in temperatures, same case to the freak and unpredictable weather patterns that have been the order of the day in different regions globally. Astronomy and geographical studies agree that this is absolutely true. According to economics reports, there is a connection between the success in warming the planet and human prosperity. Evidently, this gives the indication that if human prosperity was to be achieved at a controlled and slow rate, then the global warming effects being experienced would be very minimal or even non-existent. Hence, human beings have a role in global warming and preventing the activities that lead to global warming is crucial. There is evidence that emissions as well as the continued earth’s environment abuse is bound to be experienced more than ever as far as the history of human activity and interaction is concerned. More specifically, this will be because of the novel carbon dealings that groups of nations are engaging in. worth noting, the political transactions have more concern on the current politics as opposed to the environment’s state that abusers and users in subsequent generations are likely to face. Basically, human activities are the reason behind, and are considered to be the major reason why there is global warming. Therefore, a better management of the human activities can help in controlling the phenomenon. The constant planet cycles have been brought about by the human activities. Considering that the life of humans is undubitably biological and normal, then the activities of men have only made the globe to be warmer (Gaughen, 20). Electricity pollution is a major concern. In a majority of the cases, fossil fuels are usually burnt so that electricity can be produced. Land, water, and air pollutants are emitted into the air when fossil fuels are being burnt. Other things that have contributed a lot in air pollution are car riding, hair dryers, drying and washing clothes, stereos, televisions, lighting, dish washers, video games, air conditioners, microwaves, and computers. Each day, a lot of people engage in these activities and this has resulted to immense pollution. When farming, people are more likely to use pesticides and chemicals that have contributed a lot to global warming. In addition, industrialization is the reason why trees are being cut and replaced with buildings. Trees have a considerable role in the habitat, and cutting them is among the cardinal reasons why the climate patterns are unpredictable. Response to the opposing argument The opposers to this argument assert that the climate change panic has gathered pace globally, and it is fueled by global skirmishes over the finite resources, international politics, as well as economic doom-saying from stakeholders whose motives are ulterior. The assertions from Gaughen (23) greatly appeals to the layperson since there are easily comprehensible rationales to refute religious, political, and the philosophical reasons that are used to back up global warming arguments, which proposes that the issue can be blamed on the activities of human beings. According to Black and Gary (par 10), the abuse of authority, political and scientific, is at the basis of all the struggles that the opposing factions emphasize on in the debate. The fact that the present day’s science and influential politicians are making persuasive arguments does not necessarily render their opinions true or even watertight. Conclusion (summary, solution) As stated earlier, human beings have a huge role in stopping and preventing global warming. Carpooling can go a long way in reducing the greenhouse gases amount that cars release into the air. People should also be keener on leaving electronics and the lights turned on. If people can engage in outdoor activities more, this can really minimize the global warming impacts (Black and Gary par 4). Concerned people are currently walking to school, riding buses, or riding bikes so as to reduce the greenhouse gases being emitted into the air. Moreover, recycling and planting trees is of great help. Products such as deodorants and hairsprays have an effect on the environment and the people who manufacture them should consider this. People should also be more focused on planting trees, and recycling. Sticking to these simple rules is very important in protecting the earth. People should cease being selfish and consider the impact of their activities on the future generations. Works Cited Black, Brian, and Gary J. Weisel. Global Warming.
