Implementation, Strategic Controls, and Contingency Plans of Implementation, Strategic Controls, and Contingency Plans Introduction The organizational needs a strategic plan in order to guide the activities that are undertaken in the agency which helps the organization to achieve its goals. The organization is faced with various opportunities as well as the threats which need to be addressed so as to achieve the organization’s objectives. The opportunities that the organization has are the potential help from the government as well as other institutions that offers financial help (Bryson 2011). Another opportunity is the expansion of the organization so as to accommodate more elderly people with mental problems. The threat that the organization is the stigma associated with people with mental health disability. The main objectives of the organization are the expansion of mental health facility in order to meet the demand of accommodating more elderly people with mental health disorders. Many elderly people are experiencing mental health disability and in order to overcome this problem, the organization needs to expand the capacity of the organization to accommodate more patients as well as educating the general public to reduce the rate at which the elderly are stigmatized due to their conditions. Functional Tactics Wheelan, Hunger and Wicks (2005) point out that the functional tactics within the organization are the general processes undertaken within the organization so as to meet the goals. Two main areas will be discussed and they include the operations and service delivery. Operations involve an ongoing training among the organizational employees that fosters innovation within the organization. Through training, employees will be able to come up with new ways of improving service delivery to the elderly people. It is also recommended that the organization should adopt a performance based incentive that will motivate employees to put more effort in their working thus improving on quality and output. In service delivery it is important that the organization provide training to the staff in order to adapt to changes that occur in the organizational management system like the introduction of information technology would require that the organization are aware of the changes and that they can integrate these changes and be able to work effectively with the introduced change. Refresher training is also important as it helps employees to remember various aspects of work that might not be achieved easily through practice. Action items The action items that the organization is going to undertake will include the solicitation of funds that will enable the institution to expand the organization through the building of more structures to accommodate more elderly people as well as employing more staff to be able handle the increasing number of the elderly people that the visit the organization. This can be achieved through the collaboration from various stakeholders like the government which can contribute in the building of more structures. The government can help the organization in offering funds to expand the facility. As a mental health service provider it is important that the organization support recovery as a process as well as the outcome that will aim at promoting hope, autonomy as well as the wellbeing of the elderly people. The strengths of the patients should be identified and their coping abilities should be enhanced a move that calls for a shift in the philosophical change in service delivery in mental health. Through the integration of population health framework, the causes of mental health disorder among the elderly people will be identified and proper strategies in dealing with the problem will be generated (Crossan, Fry & Killing, 2005). This division of labor will ensure that everybody in the organization takes part in the implementation of the plan as well as ensuring that the goals are achieved in the stipulated time set out in the deadline. Te management will be responsible in the overall allocation of duties among the members (Paton & McCalman, 2008). The initial task will be the collection of funds that would be used in expanding the facility. The organization can also involve the family members of the elderly people in collecting the funds which can be achieved effectively by setting targets for different groups. After the collection of funds it is important that a team is chosen that will see the building of facility. The training of employees in the organization can be allocated to the human resource department so as to enable employees to the new changes in the organization. The training can incorporate the lessons of using new equipment in the organization as well as ways of attending to the patients effectively. Resource Allocation Swayne, Duncan and Ginter (2006) point out that resource allocation is very important in the achievement of the set out goals of the organization because without adequate resources it will prove difficult for the organization to achieve its goals. In educating the family members on the importance of coexisting with the elderly people the organization should be able to direct resources towards the achievement of this goal. The designing of the facility as well as its construction require that the team have the right expertise that will ensure that the facility is modern and serves the needs of the elderly. The training of employees is important and in the light of these resources such as finances and qualified trainers is important in meeting this goal. Organizational Change Management Strategies The main organizational change management strategies that would enhance successful implementation of the strategic plan are the differentiation strategy where employees are made to change their attitudes towards the implementation of change within the organization. Goal oriented strategies are important because the goals are clearly set and all the stakeholders are focused towards the achievement of this goal. The management is able to direct its resources towards the attainment of the goals. The leaders should act as the role models so as to motivate employees into their steps. The patients should be treated fairly and the identification of their respective coping strategies and resilience is important in ensuring that they recover speedily (Bryson, 2011). Success Factors, Budget and Forecasted Financials The key success factors that are likely to be achieved through the implementation of the strategic plan are the availability of various charity organizations that will be willing to contribute finances for the organization (Wheelan, Hunger and Wicks, 2005). Another factor is the corporation of the staff members who are willing to embrace change within the organization as well as putting effort towards the achievement of the organization’s objectives. The forecasted financials is approximated to be 110,000$ while the overall budget for the implementation of the strategic plan is 100,000$. The difference between the forecasted financials and the actual budget is due to the fact that the budget is the actual amount of finances that the organization was able to raise but the forecasted finances are higher due to the other miscellaneous costs that are likely to be incurred. Developing an incentive to reward employees who do best in the implementation of the strategic plan. Failure to solicit enough funds for the expansion of the facility Identifying certain organizations which are able to collaborate with the agency in offering help to the elderly people with mental disability. Ineffectiveness of the community awareness mission-the community members might continue stigmatizing and ignoring the elderly people with mental health disability Educating the members on the importance of co-existence in the society. Educating the members on the possible causes of the mental health disability as well as enlightening them on the effects of the disability on all age groups. Conclusion The development and the implementation of the strategic plan of an organization is very important because it helps the institution in meeting its set out goals. The elderly people require help especially when they have a mental health disability, which in most cases does not allow them to think straight thus their decision making abilities are not effective. Organizational change such as training of employees to adapt well to change is important in ensuring that the plan is implemented effectively. Members of the society usually develop stigma against the elderly people with mental health disabilities thus educating them on the importance of coexistence is important in the achievement of the organization’s goals.
