The chronological record of global politics has expressed the hardships that international relations have undergone over time. Since the onset and culmination of the Word War 2, there has been a dynamic trend in the development of international relations across diverse nations in the world (Ray & Kaarbo, xiii). There have been several factors that have led to the unstable trend in international relations. For example, armed conflict, international political economy and global challenges have been major factors that have contributed significantly in the deterioration of international relations (Lawson, 22). In addition to these major problems, there are also minor factors that contributed to the deterioration of international relations. Some of the minor problems branch from the major problems, and they involve terrorism, underdevelopment as well as violation of human rights. The states of the north have demonstrated several factors that impair international relations (Ray & Kaarbo, xiii). Despite of this fact, the states in the north have as well manifested factors that are harmonious in fostering international relations. States in the north are characterized by both problems and enhancements of international relations. Problems in the north states The states of the north are at times held accountable for the impairment of international relations. This establishment is due to the manifestation of several problems that impair international relations by the states in the north. Northern states have therefore recorded both major and minor problems that contribute towards the deterioration of international relations. From a generalized perspective, the states in the north are viewed as rich (Ray & Kaarbo, 105). They are globally qualified to be more developed than other nations. This is due to their economic power that was attained through rampant industrialization. Therefore, this nature of the northern states initiates a set of problems that are detrimental to international relations. Armed conflict is a major concern in the international relations of the northern states. As denoted previously, the northern states are characterized by high levels of development. In this case, their conflicts are comprised of massive destruction through their enhanced war machinery (Ray & Kaarbo, 183). Before the USA becoming a super-power, the Great Britain was the most powerful in the globe. In this case, the Great Britain had the largest army in the world. After a high pace of industrialization, the USA took over to being a super-power (Ray & Kaarbo, 183). In this case, the high economic record of the USA entails an advanced equipment of the army. These nations engage into armed conflicts with other nations due to the war machinery enhancement. Through this attainment, the northern states have been actively engaged into armed conflict with other nations. Their engagement into armed conflict has led to an impaired state of international relations. For example, the USA has been constantly in armed conflict with the Arabic nations like Iraq and Afghanistan (Ray & Kaarbo, 131). Throughout the armed conflict, the relation between the USA and Iraq was highly impaired and deprived. The conflicting nations retained retaliatory attitudes throughout the period of warfare. Consequently, terrorism recorded a rampant trend in the USA as the Arabic nations retaliated (Ray & Kaarbo, 134). Terrorism emerged as a sub-problem of the major challenge of armed conflict. International political economy has as well been a detrimental factor to the international relations of northern states. The northern states are characterized by economic affluence (Ray & Kaarbo, 105). They are highly developed due to their heightened industrial level. Power in nations mostly is attributed to the level of economic development. The economically developed nations tend to be more powerful nations to the developing nations. The second and third world nations look up to the first word nations in terms of development (Ray & Kaarbo, 106). The northern states attained economic power through their rampant and gradual industrialization. Therefore, they have defined the third world and second world nations as their subjects. This is a detrimental feature towards a harmonious trend in international relations. Out of this aspect of economic power, the northern states have induced a state of underdevelopment to the second and third world nations. They have administered sanctions to the nations and politicized aid (Lawson, 51). In this case, underdevelopment comes as a sub-problem that significantly impairs the international relations of developing nations and the northern states. Global challenges have also been a key factor in the deterioration of international relations. The northern states have recorded a dynamic trend in the general association with other nations. The challenges are either internal from the individual states or from external factors such as economic trends. Anarchy outlines a situation where every nation fights for the attainment of security against a certain global challenge (Ray & Kaarbo, 187). A challenge may be presented to all nations, and in the quest for security, the individual nations may impair international relations. In the pursuit of security and stability, nations impair the interests and security of other nations. For example, the global recession in the year 2008 brought diversified reactions by different nations. During this season, the economically powerful nations seemed to bare the blame from the developing nations. This was definitely a factor of depriving international relations amongst the nations. Nations respond to global challenges differently, and this initiates conflict (Ray & Kaarbo, 187). In numerous global challenges, the northern states have tended to be the decision makers due to their economic power. Their judgments have impaired relations with disagreeing nations. Enhancements in the north states Despite of the problems that are observed in the northern states, there are also enhancements of international relations in the states. These involve the key advantages and contributions of the northern nations towards international relations. The perceived economic power of the northern nations is a contributor towards the attainment of stable international relations (Telo?, 45). Northern states industrialized rampantly and attained stability in their economy. In relation to other developing nations, the northern states belong to an elevated hierarchy in terms of economy. In this case, the northern states have enhanced international relations through signing agreements of aid with the developing nations (Lawson, 52). This is an evident fact through relationship of the northern states with the South American nations and some of the African nations. The northern states also contribute in major decision making situations for the developing nations (Hunter, 34). For example, they oversee mediation in an internal conflict within the developing conflicts. This is due to their perceived power and establishment of legal institutions. Therefore, the northern states also enhance international relations significantly. Conclusion Nations in the globe manifest different sets of associations that depend on diverse factors. The northern states have a high economic power as compared to other developing nations. In this case, the northern nations show both problems as well as enhancements towards international relationships.
