There were many political and economic issues to be brought forward to be liked and/or hated. It was a year of science and in particular the study of birds thanks to Audoben. There was also an epidemic of Cholera. Another area that was coming to the fore was the idea of Transcendentalism. Other areas of history that occurred were Nat Turner’s slave rebellion, the Trail of Tears. The citizens at this time in history wanted to make a profit and do what we want to do to insure our happiness.

It was also a year dealing with the political issue of nullification. It was also a year that Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote what he thought was going to happen to the country. It was the year of the eclipse and the citizens were concerned about what would happen to them. They wanted to learn more about science, since the eclipse occurred. Some of the religious sectors looked at the eclipse as a warning that God sent to them and to tell them to conform to the laws that would teach us to conform to religious laws and for us to be equal.

There were a lot of religious procrastinations made on how we should be living our lives. The citizens also thought that this was an eclipse that should be remembered and should be told to grandchildren and future generations, because of all the oddities that occurred, for example the birds starting to roost for the night even though it was still daytime. This was the year of President Andrew Jackson. They thought that the eclipse was looked upon as an omen by most of the people of the nation, but many also saw it as a chance to reform their stands on the many issues that were confronting the country.

It was also a year to share ideas on how to make things easier, for example Eli Whitney’s Cotton Gin to help bring bigger profits for the Southern States and cotton production. On a social side a lot of the citizens went about their daily chores and duties liked nothing unusual
