Using Economic growth rate as the basis for assessment, I manage to come up with the following lists. Harry S Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton are the top five best presidents of all times who made tremendous achievements during their respective terms (Scaros, 2011). Their policies encompassed trimming down tax rates, reducing the augmentation of government expenditures, and controlling the money supply to evade inflation’s high rates. This is why they top the list and remain influential presidents in US history despite some like Clinton being accused of marital infidelity (Trent, Friedenberg & Denton, 2011). Many of these presidents devised economic policies that not only helped the US to stabilize economically but also other foreign states like Mexico (Boyd, 2011). For instance, Clinton whose administration stands to date as the only regime that created numerous jobs (Boyd, 2011). In addition, they were also daring to implement new strategies, which through their advisors deemed would augment state’s GDP (Boyd, 2011). Conversely, Presidents Dick Cheney, Warren Harding, Hebert Hoover, Richard Nixon and Andrew Johnson are the bottom five worst presidents in building the economy in the U.S. Common trend that characterizes these presidents encompasses failing in their respective terms economically. This is evident in the case of Cheney to the extent of his recent criticism of Obama numerous citizens contended he was not supposed to criticize the incumbent due to his past term’s failures (Ashtari, 2013). Hence, this confirms the extent of failures of the former leaders caused the nation to encounter, which is almost incomparable to the current regime.
